I just came home from Germany where I saw Hans Zimmer live in concert. 9000 people were present in an incredibly warm Barclaycard Arena where Zimmer, band, orchestra and choir (70 people in total) played two sets, totalling 2 and a half hours.

The set list looked something like this:

It was great to finally see one of my absolute favorite musicians in a live setting, although the level of "noise" in the music is at times very high. I think I like Zimmer best when he slows down the pace and turns down the volume. Not everyone on stage have to play at the same time, but I guess that is where Zimmer has moved towards during the last 10-15 years or so.

Highlights for me included Journey To The Line from Thin Red Line (with an incredibly effective and simple visual backdrop), Rain Man, Gladiator, Crimson Tide, Lion King, Dark Knight and Inception.

Of course I missed a lot of stuff, like A World Apart, Black Rain, Days Of Thunder, Green Card, Regarding Henry, Thelma & Louise, Toys, Point Of No Return, Beyond Rangoon, Broken Arrow, The Fan, MI2, Last Samurai, The Holiday, The Bible, Rush and Chappie, but you can't have everything.

All in all a concert to remember for the rest of my life.

I bought some nice merchandise, including a cool Zimmer t-shirt and the tour programme.

Anyone here who were present at the Hamburg concert?

Thanks, good excerpt of the show there.

I didn't realize that Nick Glennie-Smith was the keyboard player.

Thanks for the excerpt. Does anyone know if Zimmer is releasing a CD from these concerts?

No, but according to the tour programme, a new Zimmer CD called THE CLASSICS will be released from Sony Music autumn 2016, with new arrangements by artists like Lang Lang and Nigel Kennedy.
