I seem to vaguely recall a cheesy movie about a search for a T-Rex. I think it was from the 50s, and may have been a Corman cheapy, because they never find the dinosaur. They may have even stated in the film that the T-Rex may already be dead.
I don't really remember much at all, only being angry that I stayed up late awaiting a dino that never showed up.
Sorry for the silly request, but I would appreciate any help.
Thanks!

I've been wracking my brain about this, but coming up with nada.
I do know that I'd be pretty mad too, though.

Thanks! I don't know what got me started on this quest, sorry for the trouble.

I seem to recall the protagonists searching through caves, etc., and there may have been mention of the T Rex being radioactive.(?)

Oh, they most definitely found him! LOL

Funny, I was just thinking about that film today--it's one of my favorites--specifically the part where they are chasing after the struthiomimus and Gwangi jumps in out of nowhere and chomps down on it.
Made this kid jump in his seat many a time!

Could be "Lost Continent" (1951) with Cesar Romero.

A movie about the search for a T-Rex…and there ain't any T-Rex???
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!
I'd be pissed too!
It can't possibly be The Valley Of Gwangi, because we get to see quite a lot of Gwangi!
As I was first reading your post, I thought it might be The Beast Of Hollow Mountain, because it's a dinosaur flick from 1956, but when I read that the picture you're asking about doesn't even have a dinosaur…well…that's just WRONG!

JACKFU:

I have a copy of KEEP WATCHING THE SKIES! which is supposed to be a complete listing of sci fi B movies through the 1960s and I couldn't find such a movie with my quick search.
A Google search of Corman and Tyrannosaurus didn't turn up a movie with no Tyrannosaurus in it.
Do you have other details about it which would narrow the search?
I collect dinosaur models and know a little, not a lot, about dinosaur B movies---all the dinosaur movies I know of have dinosaurs in them. The one you're describing doesn't ring a bell with me.

Thanks, Chris, it's frustrating because I remember seeing The Beast Of Hollow Mountain a short while before and was anticipating something like that but it didn't happen in this film.

Thanks for your effort, dragon53, sorry I'm so vague on this. I was probably 8 or 9 and it was in the early 60s, so I just don't recall much more. I feel like I've put you to a lot of trouble.
Thanks!

I can remember back on movies I saw on TV bacl when I was eight, but I can't really trust those memories, especially if it's movie from late night TV. The movie you're trying to remember maybe one you fell asleep on -- before they found the dinosaur. Try remember more how it began or who was in it, or just forget about it.

I'm familiar with these B-movies that have a Tyrannosaurus in them.

This cheesy movie is about a hunt for a Tyrannosaur, but it's from the 1970s.

I couldn't find anything that fits your description. Every movie seems to end with a confrontation with a dinosaur if not specifically a T-Rex.

Edit: Link is coming out wonky. Try Wikipedia and search for Dinosaur films.

@ Dragon53- "The Last Dinosaur" is the only dino film I know of where they specifically go on the hunt for a T-Rex. Of course the T-Rex is front and center during the second half of the film. It's one of my guilty pleasures too.

Maybe you're thinking of Corman's TEENAGE CAVEMAN. They keep talking about "the creature that gives death with its touch" (a Blood Beast by any other name), but it's not a dino. At the start, they do show some stock footage of T-Rexs from UNKNOWN ISLAND (1948).

UNTAMED WOMEN (1952) shows a dino, but I dont know if it's in the movie.

There's also the LAST DINOSAUR (1977) with Richard Boone, but they do find the T-Rex.

Dont forget this 1955 Czech flick:

Teenage Cave Man (1958)?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052279/

Edit: See "Last Child" beat me too it by one post.

I thought about TEENAGE CAVEMAN, too, because of the dinosaurs and radiation, but the dinosaurs are not the featured creature---the mutant is.

But it's possible that as a child, jackfu was misled by the hints of the mutant as being a T-rex.
