I just recieved this new CD, it sounds great! http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/russell-garcia-frank-comstock/6388-music-from-outer-space-fantastica-project-comstock-2-lps-on-1-cd.html Russell Garcia / Frank Comstock Music From Outer Space - Fantastica + Project: Comstock (2 LPs on 1 CD) Blue Moon 800 Series Personnel: Russell Garcia, Frank Comstock (arrangers, orchestral conductors) Reference: BMCD 871 Bar code: 8427328008716 · Collector’s Edition · Issued in Digipack · 2 Original LPs on 1 CD · Original Cover Art and Liner Notes · Stereo Recordings · Newly Remastered in 24-Bit Reunited here on CD are the two masterpieces of “Music from Outer Space,” two legendary albums that bring you the music of whirling satellites, brilliant galaxies, streaming comets, mysterious planets, and the eerie reaches of space in-between, all in spectacular stereo sound. “Fantastica” (1957) remains the gold standard by which all outer space exotica records are judged. It is an inno- vative musical suite of all outer space titles written by the imaginative composer/arranger Russ Garcia, who brilliantly orchestrated and conducted it using well-controlled unusual electronic effects. The effects were created by sound engineer Ted Keep, and include a sine wave generator that produces treble and bass tones of almost inhuman extremes. Russ Garcia hoped that his music would take listeners far, far from the earth... clear out of this world. All that other-worldly, startling musical and dramatic life is also present in another remarkable album, “Project: Comstock” (1962). One of the world’s most inventive arrangers, Frank Comstock, outdid himself, as the subject of space gave him literally light years of latitude to create a new kind of music. In addition to the normal complement of his orchestra, Comstock augmented it with electronic instruments seldom heard in recordings such as the Theremin and Novachord in an unprecedented musical journey. Enjoy this science-fiction music that will take you on a realistic trip into space. Tracklisting: 01. Into Space 2:38 02. Nova (Exploding Star) 2:23 03. Lost Souls of Saturn 3:39 04. Anybody know if these are remastered from the original masters, or just very good LP transfers? Thanks. I heard long ago from Russ that FANTASTICA masters were gone....

Listening right now...sound quality is superb...although LOST SOULS OF SATURN is missing the oscillator track. I've known for some time there are 2 different mixes of it, Thanks Charles. The Comstock album sounds superb also? Do you have the (excellent) Basta reissue of "Fantastica," and if so, have you compared this version to Basta's? I have the Basta and also one from Jack Diamond...haven't A/B'd them yet. Comstock sounds great.

Just compared Basta and the new one...maybe some slight improvement on the new disc. The Basta LOST SOULS OF SATURN has the electronic efx mix...the new one does not. Different LP reissue mix left it off.
