MONDAY, APRIL 25

DOCTOR WHO---BBC released a video introducing Pearl Mackie as Bill, Doctor Who's new companion.

MECHANIC: RESURRECTION---photo released from the sequel showing Jason Statham and Jessica Alba. Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh also star.

GHOSTBUSTERS---photo released from the Sony Pictures all-female reboot movie starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.

ALIENS---Sigourney Weaver commented on the status of the Neill Blomkamp sequel, "Ridley [Scott] asked Neill not to make our Alien 'til after 'Prometheus 2.' [Ridley] wanted his movie to shoot and be released first. But it's an amazing script, and Neill and I are really excited about doing it. We're doing other things until we can get going on that. I'd be really surprised if we didn't do it, because it's such a great script, and we love working together. So, it's just going to take a little bit longer to get out to you, but it'll be worth the wait."

COLD SKIN---Ray Stevenson (THOR, ROME) and David Oakes (THE BORGIAS) star in this movie based on the horror novel about a young man who accepts a position at a remote weather station near the Antarctic Circle and finds a deranged man who battles amphibious humanoids and has a female amphibian as his lover.

GAME OF THRONES---the National Center on Sexual Exploitation placed the HBO series on its 2016 "Dirty Dozen" list and claimed, “GAME OF THRONES has excelled in turning brutal sexual violence into mainstream entertainment. Since 2011, HBO has relentlessly brought the ambiance of torture pornography into American living rooms through GAME OF THRONES explicit depictions of rape, incest, prostitution, and sexual violence. This cocktail of pornography and twisted plot lines must be denounced as socially irresponsible, especially in an age when American society is struggling to combat the crises of sexual assault and rape culture.”

THE WALKING DEAD---a representative for Norman Reedus denied the STAR tabloid report that Reedus wants more time for his character and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. The tabloid reported that "Norman is the fan favorite, and he's using that to his advantage with the writers. He was instrumental in getting Jeffrey added to the show, and he wants next season to center around their characters - and if that means zombies kill of Rick [Andrew Lincoln] or Glenn [Stephen Yeun], so be it."
The representative replied, "As usual with STAR, this story is complete nonsense. Norman has absolutely nothing to do with the casting or storylines on the show. He has strong friendships with Andrew, Steven and Jeffrey, and is thrilled to work with them all as much as humanly possible."

JUMANJI---Dwayne Johnson confirmed he's starring in the remake of the 1995 fantasy movie that starred Robin Williams.

DADDY'S HOME---Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are returning for the sequel.

BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99---Vince Vaughn stars in this movie as an ex-boxer in prison who resorts to violence in order to survive. S. Craig Zahler (BONE TOMAHAWK) is the writer/director.

How about the exploitation of violence in general? Torture, beheading's, crushing skulls, exploding brains, stabbing eyes out, slitting throats, burning to death. Ah, guess that's all okay.

Game Of Thrones - Never seen it, never will. That's because I don't have a TV. How's that for pre-emptive strategy?

Alien tried to morph when its creator attempted to change lanes, but it looks like it will always be the same customer constrained, immovable object.

How about the exploitation of naked old ladies?!! What an assault on men that was.

Anyway, at least there are no guns. Damn near everything else in entertainment involves solving problems and feeling good about things by making as many holes in objects as you can.

GRECCHUS:

So you only watch movies in the theater or on a pc?

I have a tv and use it to watch movies or documentaries. I gave up on on networking programming years ago.

It's impossible to avoid TV entirely. Most everyone I know has one, but the last programme I watched, for instance, was archived on BBC iplayer. The broadband provider of some people I know tried to get them fixed on Netflix, but it hasn't worked. I don't even go to the cinema these days. Most films I see are on DvD. If I do get to see any TV at all it will be news or documentaries.

So I hear all the men in this female centric film are cowards, crooks, and morons. In the original Ghostbusters, Janine Melnitz was smart and sassy, and Dana Barrett was intelligent and classy.

It's long been said about environmentalism that its ultimate objective is mankind's extinction. It's become apparent that ardent feminists have the same goal. In the context of the culture the feminist movement has produced in the West, man-hatred is so pervasive and courtship so fraught with peril that young males are fools to engage with the opposite sex. It's a shame (especially because the radical Muslims are multiplying like gremlins). Male chauvinism was no better than what has replaced it, like affirmative action is no better than Jim Crow, but surely there was a happy, prejudice-free medium preferable to the extremes . . . .

Only Dr. Zaius knows about real man-hatred.

Given how the first time we see Peter Venkman in the original movie he's busy twisting the results of a psychic experiment so he was to chat up a cute student...

Sorry, but it'll take more than a mere "photo" to convince me that the lead performers in this movie are "females."

Shuddup, I'm tired of political correctness in the news and tv. Game of Thrones depicts depravity at its best. The news is far more violent and exploitive.
