Ever since first seeing The Beatle’s “Help!” film in 1965 at age 10, I was always fascinated by the scenes at Salisbury Plain, especially when they were performing “I Need You”. One shot has Ringo trembling with cold but smiling. It always stuck with me for some reason. I just thought how cool it looked with the bright sunshine and the wind blowing through the long grass. Recently my wife’s aunt asked us to look after her home, dog and property while she was away for a few days. There is a large meadow, once a pasture, and the grass has grown quite tall there. It features low rolling hills and reminds me of what I saw in “Help!”. It also happened to be a cold, blustery, but beautiful sunny spring day and I stood out in the meadow basking in the sun, shivering in the cold, and thinking that it may have been the same for The Beatles during filming. It made me smile, anyway. Guess that’s one I can scratch off my bucket list. Actually at my age, my bucket list is more like a thimble list.
