https://www.deadfamous.info/jean-prodromides-french-composer-died-at-88

With this recent death of Jean Prodromidès, all of my favorite French composers who worked in cinema are now departed.

Mr. Prodromidès died over one month ago on March 17, 2016.

I believe that the only Prodromides score that I own is DANTON. I didn't realize that he had scored the "Metzengerstein" segment of 1969's SPIRITS OF THE DEAD. That's the Roger Vadim-directed segment with Jane and Peter Fonda. His portion of the film's score has not been released.

Wonderful artist. He wrote some of the best film scores ever, including the masterful Le Voyage en Ballon, L'Ours and Danton.

Adieu M. Prodromidès. frown

His Voyage en ballon is among my most loved scores.
He'll be missed.
Adieu l'artiste.

Sorry to hear about his death. Just getting interested in his music.
Please excuse the timing of this technical question, but is there any source difference between the Disques and Milan cds of "Voyage en Ballon"? Both from LP, or did Milan find a more original source?

I don't have any knowledge about the source elements. I recall Stefan Schlegel mentioning in past threads that the only things which have survived are the EP & LP programs from the old albums.
My understanding is that none of Prodromidès' music for cinema & television survives unless it was issued onto vinyl at the time.

We can resume further discussion on this topic, Last Child, over on FSM's other side [inside the appreciation thread on vinyl Prodromidès] ... rather than derail this obituary (if you are still interested).
