Kino Lorber have confirmed that they will release on Blu-ray Jean Negulesco's film Boy on a Dolphin (1957), starring Alan Ladd, Sophia Loren, and Clifton Webb. The release is expected to arrive on the market in the fall.
...& in a new 4K transfer. There's a few people who will be stoked about this, a much requested title. I've never seen it, but I like the Hugo Friedhofer score, I have the Intrada CD.
I'm sure you must mean Clifton Webb's wonderfully bitchy performance, and the beautiful Hugo Friedhofer score. Right?
Of course, you might add the beautiful scenic coverage of Greece and the colorful CinemaScope photography and the sonic splendors of the 4-track magnetic stereophonic sound.
But if you think of the three once-charismatic stars, you realize that two are long-deceased, and the third is very, very old, and that can be somewhat depressing.
However, it's a spectacular and very enjoyable entertainment that should look gorgeous on Blu-ray, assuming Fox has finally managed to conquer the fading yellow layer and not transferred the whole thing too blue in color balance like so many of their others these days.
