Realize it’s available for download but sure wish there was a disc release of the deluxe version. If I’m going to download I want hi-rez. Still want a shiny disc with pictures and liner notes though, maybe in the near future?!?

I read that there is a brief nod towards the Goldsmith score at some point, is this on the album and does anyone have a timecode for it?

Chaos, Mayhem, Destruction - 2:40-2:48

Okay, I have the Deluxe Edition of the score and this is driving me crazy -- I cannot hear any reference to Goldsmith's Mummy, at this timestamp. Is it something of a The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey situation where the Deluxe Edition doesn't have that part, but the standard edition does? Before we found out there was a Deluxe Edition was when this timestamp was shared so I'm guessing that's the reason I can't hear it.

Can anyone with the Deluxe Edition tell me where the little Goldsmith thematic reference ended up, or whether it even appears on that version at all?

Dear Yavar -- No need to drive crazy.

I presume maybe the timestamp is actually 1:44-1:48 from "Chaos, Mayhem, Destruction" (I'm referring to the physical CD and don't know if there is a difference with the download).

There you can hear a very brief statement of the choir chanting something similar to the first 4 notes of Goldsmith's Mummy theme.

But I believe this is a mere coincidence, just because these notes there form a similar musical phrase. However, the key, the value and the meter are different.

Compare Goldsmith's theme as appears 0:25-0:33 in "Crowd Control" to the above and you'll get what I mean. But again, I think this is something Tyler didn't made consciously. smile

Hope this helps. Best regards!

Unfortunately that timestamp isn't it for the Deluxe version of the cue, so the question still stands.

We're looking for very much an intentional reference, as reported in Variety:

Tyler confesses that he added a fleeting reference to Goldsmith’s score when Jenny (Annabelle Wallis) uses the Book of the Dead as a weapon in a brief scene in the new movie. That book (the original prop from the 1999 film) is a throwaway bit in the new film, although a key plot element in the earlier film.

I can hear a similarity 2:43-2:46.
The choir sings 4 wordless notes. It's not much but I think the stylistic resemblance is there.
It's so brief that it could easily be coincidence.
