One of Elfman's most iconic scores. Not sure how well it would work in a modern film, but for 90's Burton: perfect. Come to think of it, Batman Returns would probably qualify as an "art film" today...

Indeed it is. I have to say that I'm surprised by the lack of love for this masterpiece from reviewers. I understand that there were issues with the mix, however I still think the composition is up there as one of Elfman's best.
