Let's hope Ned Price and his team don't over-saturate the yellow, impose a tan overlay on the color, and alter the light and dark densities. I have zero confidence in Price, and I fully expect him to screw it up just like he screwed up Gone With the Wind, The Searchers, Rio Bravo, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and other back-catalog titles.
Well there's nothing wrong with the colour on the DVD, I had another look at it the other day. I agree The Searchers looks too yellow & Rio Bravo looks god awful, but most Warner catalogue Blu's look great to me, & every Archive release I've bought looks great.
No, every back-catalog title does NOT look great. Even the standard DVD of She Wore a Yellow Ribbon is over-saturated with yellow, with the ruddy color of Monument Valley's earth changed to brown. 90% of the Warner Archive DVD's are accurate, but whenever Price is called in he screws up the color and density. The sharpness and texture of a hi-def scan is only half the transfer; the other half is the color and density. Until recently Warner Archive was not releasing blu-rays. The less Ned Price has to do with them, the better.
I've been waiting a long time for She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. He better get it right.
Watch A Tale of the Navajo, a Warner Archive DVD. That's how Monument Valley is supposed to look in She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and The Searchers.
I got it in the mail yesterday from Amazon, but I haven't had time yet to sit down and watch it because I want to watch it in its entirety, but I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH IT!!!!! So excited!!!!
And I've been to Monument Valley, so I don't need anything else to tell me what it should look like.
