I dislike the schmaltzy main title, but love the edgy, piano-driven stuff in this score.

The film itself is magnificent (not counting the typically-bad Faye Dunaway performance).

Its top 3 Goldsmith without that ravishing main theme it wouldn't feel or sit as the full introduction for this movie noir effect, that was important too Goldsmiths colour-cast & Polanski's it could be one of the reasons why Lambro was lifted.

Dunaway too her discredit has been in many bad movies her performance in Chinatown equals Nicholson's that is a fact you'll need to accept she's excelled given the chance with McQueen - Douglas - Beatty too name a few.

Can anyone help me set up a playlist combining the Stereo and Mono tracks without the source music. I know the complete score is there in Mono but I want to combine both by interpolating the (previously unavailable) Mono tracks into the Stereo Album programme. The problem is some tracks are sandwiched together so I don't know how to assemble a playlist which reflects the entire score.

1. Love Theme from Chinatown (Main Title)*
2. J.J. Gittes*
3. Noah Cross*
4. Mulwray's Office**
5. A Late Swim**
6. The Boy on a Horse*
7. No Trespassing**
8. Jake and Evelyn*
9. The Captive*
10. Second Thoughts**
11. The Last of Ida*
12. The Wrong Clue*
13. It's Not Worth It**
14. Love Theme from Chinatown (End Title)*

*LP program (stereo)
**mono

Some of the LP tracks combine cues from different parts of the film, so it's not exactly in film order but as close as it gets while keeping the LP tracks intact.

There it is again--Jerry with a pronounced Dustin Hoffman look. Right out of central casting.

Jerry's smile always looked like he just pulled a prank on you.

Yes like a grimace. It was the pranks he played in his fascinating scores which impress the most.
