Check out a new episode of my composer interview podcast On the Score, as JOHN OTTMAN talks about scoring super teams, from the funky 70s of THE NICE GUYS to a symphonically spectacular Ancient Egypt and 1983 America that the X-Men must save from APOCALYPSE - two stylistically divergent soundtracks that continue to show a creative voice that not only scores, but edits at:
I have yet to enjoy Ottman's X-Men scores but his description of Apocalypse's theme has me interested. (He describes it as having two parts: the main melody he describes as a "noble conquering hero" theme, but dark since he's a megalomaniac, with the other part of the theme being "seductive religious chords" because he fancies himself a God.) Very curious to hear that.
And apparently Jean Grey has yet another new theme.
Can't wait to hear it... the download is out day after tomorrow with CD coming almost a month from now... at least some samples will be hopefully available soon...
