All right enough already with the genius/'genius'/ "genius"/genius routine! This is a place that is ostensibly dedicated to celebrating the fine art of scoring films and the composers who compose the music for film that is/are worth a damn. I mean Islands In The Stream arrived minutes ago and all it took was the Main Title and a trip to the coffee shop to remind me of the genius/'genius'/ "genius"/genius that is Goldsmith and was from the getgo. I mean he took the best that is North i.e. psychological scoring i.e. capturing character or a character i.e. Streetcar's scene when Blanche encounters the newsboy and for that matter the entire The Misfits, e.g. and combined it with the best that is Mancini i.e. creating a mood aimed directly at the audience i.e. his 60s sound a la Tiffany's and Panther and all it took was a theme or two to be bent this way and that way with the result you got the best of both worlds that eminently served the picture and made for a pretty good stand alone soundtrack, too. Before JG there was BH; before North and Mancini there were...I don't know if there was a North before North...gonna havta think more about that...but before Mancini there were many before and many after and all effective in their own way, some more highly than others but no slouches they.

Of course there may be a few more in between, over & above, unconscionably omitted but only momentarily...smile
