Hurrah: a thread about the music. Thank you.

Well the funny thing given all the hoo-ha is it's not even one of BH's best scores. It's pale next to Obsession. Night Digger, Sisters are superior too. But, heck, it is Bernard Herrmann doing what we love Bernard Herrmann doing. It's moody and it's broody with all trademark Herrmann-isms we love. It's just not what you'd put on your "ten best Herrmann" countdown. And I think that's because even though there's a very distinctive theme for the score, the mooding and brooding doesn't really work with it, it's fairly generic mooding and brooding by Herrmann standards and comes in, goes out, comes in, goes out, comes in, goes out, like the waves on a beach.

I enjoy it because I dig the Herrmann way.

Cheers

Music is so overrated. Complaining is where it's at.

I prefer a score like this over OBSESSION which I could never get into. I'm not able to distinguish a "superior" score from a lesser one.wink
