WEDNESDAY, MAY 25

GAME OF THRONES---co-creator David Benioff said there were "three holy s**t moments" revealed after the producers met with George RR Martin two years ago. The first involved Shireen burned alive in Season 5. The second was about Hodor in the last episode. The third will be at the end of the series. Martin's new, fourth big twist involves a book character that was killed off earlier in the tv series.
Benioff added, "People are talking about whether the books are going to be spoiled - and it's really not true. So much of what we're doing diverges from the books at this point. And while there are certain key elements that will be the same, we're not going to talk so much about that - and I don't think George is either. People are going to be very surprised when they read the books after the show. They're quite divergent in so many respects for the remainder of the show."

INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE---new poster released for the sequel.

TERMINAL---Margot Robbie, Mike Myers and Simon Pegg star in this noir thriller movie about two hitmen on a lucrative hit who meet a woman who's not what she seems to be.

THE GODFATHER---Francis Ford Coppola will publish the notebook he kept during filming of the classic 1971 movie, "This notebook was my private work reference to The Godfather film, and after many years, I'm excited to share it with those who may be interested. It is the key to understanding what went into making the film from Mario Puzo's novel." The release date is November 15.

FRIDAY THE 13TH---John Carpenter commented on the FRIDAY THE 13TH movies in an interview with Bret Easton Ellis.
Ellis remarked, "You've said that the Texas Chain Saw Massacre is like actual sex, and by comparison Friday the 13th is masturbation."
"Or a handjob," Carpenter replied.
Carpenter added, "One springs from an organic idea and has a truly artist's eye working. And Friday the 13th, I feel, affects me as very cynical. It's very cynical moviemaking. It just doesn't rise above its cheapness. I think the reason that all these slasher movies came in the '80s was a lot of folks said 'look at that Halloween movie. It was made for peanuts, and look at the money it's made! We can make money like that. That's what the teenagers want to see.' So they just started making them, cranking them out...most of them were awful."
Also, Mike Flanagan (OCULUS) is in talks to direct the latest HALLOWEEN sequel with Carpenter returning as executive producer.

GET SHORTY---Epix tv series underway based on the Elmore Leonard novel. The plot involves a Las Vegas mob thug who goes to Hollywood to become a movie producer and use the movie to launder money. The 1995 movie based on the novel starred Gene Hackman, John Travolta, Rene Russo and Danny DeVito.

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE---Joss Whedon said he might return to the MCU if it involved a female superhero, "Yeah, of course, although I tend more towards the Jessica Jones-ey kind of stories than the delightful Supergirl stories that my daughter wants... [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige fought a mighty fight to get [Captain Marvel] on the schedule. So it's a start. You could say that should be a middle, but it's a start."

WOLVERINE 3---a source said the sequel's villains are Weapon X, Donald Pierce and The Reavers.

SUICIDE SQUAD---a source said Warner Bros. is considering more spinoff movies in addition to the Harley Quinn movie already planned, "The Joker is a definite possibility for a spinoff, and Jared [Leto] seems up for it from what I've been told. They're also really hot on Jai Courtney's character Boomerang right now. Nothing's set in stone yet, but you're definitely going to be seeing a lot more of these guys in the years to come."
