Congratulations to our own beloved board poster Reed Birney on winning the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a play for THE HUMANS.

Check it out at YouTube:

Wonderful to see him enjoy this success after his many years as a working actor.

I'd like to see that play. Wonder if it could be a film.

I have to admit I never log onto the non-score Board, but I did just now to post a question I've always wondered, whether our Reed Birney was THAT Reed Birney. Thank you for answering that.

Congratulations, Mr. B. Been following your career ever since Four Friends. Love your work on House of Cards.

I THOUGHT there was something I liked about that guy when he hugged his wife and made that wonderful, brave, heartfelt acceptance speech. And now, you say he's been posting on the Board all this time? How BEAUTIFUL! Mazeltov, Mr. B -- and keep up the great work!

The video doesn't work (it says 'private'), but congrats on the win, Reed!

Once again, what alias/name does he use here?
I'm totally unfamiliar with his real name.
Congrats anyway smile

Cunningly, Kev, he goes by the name of Reed Birney. These tricky pseudonyms, eh!

Aha! Thanks TG.
Then I assume he posts here once every blue moon then, 'cause I don't recall his name AT ALL, and I visit here quite often smile

Any relation to Floyd Burney from the Twilight Zone episode "Come Wander with Me"? wink If he is, then it's easy to see that talent runs in the Burney/Birney family.

Congratulations to Reed for his career triumph! Way to go!!! smile

Admittedly, Reed hasn't posted much over the last few years as he has been VERY busy as the go-to featured actor in various dramatic plays and doing a continuing role as a senator and then the Vice-President on HOUSE OF CARDS. (He also sends out some of the most creative Holiday cards too.)

By the way, I've changed the URL in the opening post as, evidently, the Tony people killed the longer, higher res excerpt that contained all of his acceptance speech--sorry.

He's Donald Blythe, is he?! That explains why I knew the name when this thread started, because I've just finished Series 2 on Netflix. He has some heavyweight competition on that show but certainly isn't disgraced by it - congratulations, sir!

(Kev, I searched on the name under "Users" to find him on FSM. A rare poster indeed, but CLEARLY a busy chap, trying to keep ahead of Frank Underwood's shenanigans.)

Good on the fella. I randomly watched an episode of From the Earth To the Moon and he happened to he in it.

Yep, here I am! Thank you all for the kind words. Sunday was a great great night, as you can imagine. I haven't posted much at all in the last few years but I read the board every day and learn so much about new releases and film history. Crazy about FSM.
Thanks to all you smart film music lovers. And thanks for this board! Carry on!

'S weird how this board tends to mark time in many ways. There's an episode of Law and Order about a pair of young thrill killers that airs frequently these days that originally aired back in '97. That's about when some of us first came to this place in its early days. RB played an attorney in a small supporting role and now he wins a big award and some of us are still posting here from those early days. But that's what I like a lot about that show, the way great stage actors like Sam Waterston intermingle with the likes of others like Patti Lupone, Tovah Feldshuh, Jerry Orbach and a host of others. Including the Tony man of the moment! cool
