Amazing true story. The notorious David Irving sued an American historian for rightly calling him a Holocaust denier. And he sued her in Britain, where it's up to the person accused of libel to prove they're innocent, so she had to prove in court that the Holocaust actually happened.
I read the book a couple of years ago, it's gripping. And they got David Hare to write it, so I'm expecting something really powerful.
Interesting... directed by Mick Jackson, knew I recognised the name he directed L.A. STORY. He hasn't directed a theatrical feature since THE FIRST $20 MILLION IS ALWAYS THE HARDEST in 2002, which was scored by Marco Beltrami. He previously worked with Alan Silvestri on a trio of films in the '90s: THE BODYGUARD, CLEAN SLATE and VOLCANO. This looks more like a return to the kind of thing he was doing in British TV in the '80s, like THREADS, A VERY BRITISH COUP and the HORIZON docudrama THE RACE FOR THE DOUBLE HELIX (aka LIFE STORY, which starred Jeff Goldblum and Tim Pigott-Smith as Jim Watson and Francis Crick). If it's up to the quality of those works, it should be very good indeed. Shore seems like good composer casting for this too. I'll look forward to this (but it's not due to be released in the UK until 3 February 2017!) Not sure about Weisz's American accent though.
I saw the film yesterday. Very well done. Tom Wilkinson steals the film as the barrister. Shore's score is effective and doesn't over-hype the dramatic moments, nor slide into ethic cliches like some composers may have done.
This arrived yesterday. The first track is lovely, but nothing new for Shore.
It's indeed an quintessential drama score for Shore, featuring his "calling cards" left, right and centre. But it makes for a perfectly fine afternoon listening experience.
