Well, you all might as well call me a big kid, because the J2 is as much a real ship to me as any actual real ship. As far as I'm concerned, the J2 really has been to all the places that my mind ever imagined.
It's my 2nd favorite spacecraft, right after the original Constitution class 1701.

I still have the unassembled Polar Lights J2 in its box--and I have a feeling that I will never be ready to tackle it, but to this day I still marvel at the ingenious job Ron Gross did in reconciling the exterior contours with the requirements of the 2-deck redesign. Which is not to say the G12 wasn't gorgeous on its own--it was, just in a different, but equal, way.

The work of people like Paul Lubliner are a Godsend to all of us who treasure these pieces.

Very well stated! Love the mini doc, not only does it go into the restoration, but also the history of filming the model. I also have the Polar Lights J2 along with Moebius "giant" J2. Neither built. Hope to assemble them some day.
