MONDAY, JUNE 27

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---it was confirmed that Darth Vader will appear in the movie and James Earl Jones is returning to provide Vader's voice. Also, new photos were released from the movie.

ALIEN: COVENANT---sources say Katherine Waterston, daughter of Sam Waterston (LAW & ORDER), will play Ellen Ripley's mother.
Also, Noomi Rapace has returned to the movie after departing earlier.

STAR TREK---Bryan Fuller commented on rumors about the new Trek tv series, “I mean, it’s funny. I’ve read that we’re [set] before ‘Next Generation,’ after ‘[Star Trek VI: The] Undiscovered Country,’ which is false. I’ve read that it’s an anthology show, which is not accurate. So it’s interesting to see those suggestions, and seeing the truth mixed in with them and going like, ‘Oh, they got that part right…’ But it’s sort of on the truth-o-meter on PolitiFacts. It’s sort of like some truth, and a lot of like, ‘No — pants on fire! That’s not true.'”
He added, “One of the things that is exciting for me is that we are telling a ‘Star Trek’ story in a modern way. We’re telling a 13-chapter story in this first season. It’s nice to be able to dig deep into things that would have been breezed passed if we were doing episodic and had to contain a story to an episode.”

TRUE DETECTIVE---Matthew McConaughey said he's talked to creator Nic Pizzolatto about returning to the series if it returns for another season, "It would have to be the right context, the right way. I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching 'True Detective' on Sunday nights. I was a happy man when we made that for six months... You're actually getting better quality dramas on the small screen today than you ever have been. A lot better than the big screen sometimes."

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST---Randall Wallace (BRAVEHEART) confirmed he and Mel Gibson are working on a sequel to the 2004 movie which will focus on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

INDIANA JONES 5---composer John Williams confirmed he's returning to compose the score for the sequel. Also. Steven Spielberg said about the sequel, "I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans... The one thing I will tell you is I'm not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it."

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS---Angelina Jolie is in talks to co-star in the remake of the 1974 movie based on the Agatha Christie novel. Kenneth Branagh is the star/director. The original movie starred Sean Connery, Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall, Michael York, Jacqueline Bisset and Martin Balsam.
In other Agatha Christie movie news, Emma Stone will star in a movie about Christie's "missing" 11 days in 1926 that was featured in the movie AGATHA. Also, Alicia Vikander is in talks to star in a Sony Pictures movie about Christie's early years as a "proto-feminist".

DEATH WISH---Eli Roth will direct the remake movie starring Bruce Willis. The original 1974 movie starred Charles Bronson.

THE WOLFMAN---Dwayne Johnson is being sought to star in the Universal Pictures reboot movie.

OCEAN'S 11---the all-female reboot heist movie stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling.

WOODY ALLEN---Kate Winslet is in negotiations to star in Allen's next movie. No other details were released.

THE GIRL WITH THE GIFT---Glenn Close and Gemma Arterton star in this British horror movie about a young girl who holds the key to curing a zombie plague.

THE SAINT---Paramount Pictures is developing a movie franchise on the novel series. Roger Moore starred in the tv version, and Val Kilmer starred in the movie version.

PENNY DREADFUL---Showtime cancelled the series.

SUPERGIRL---Lynda Carter, star of the original WONDER WOMAN tv series, will play the President of the United States in Season 2. Tyler Hoechlin will play Superman. Wonder Woman's invisible jet will not appear in the series.

DAS BOOT---eight-hour miniseries sequel is underway. The sequel is set after the original 1981 movie ended.

PATTY HEARST---CBS miniseries underway about the kidnapping of the Hearst publishing empire heiress in 1974.

THE MIST---Frances Conroy (SIX FEET UNDER, AMERICAN HORROR STORY) will star in the Spike TV series based on the Stephen King novella which was made into a movie starring Thomas Jane. Conroy will play an ecological zealot.

STARGATE---Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich confirmed the new movie will be a sequel, not a remake of the original movie.

SICARIO---a third movie is underway.

AKIRA---Warner Bros. reportedly wants Justin Lin to direct the remake movie.

VINYL---HBO cancelled the series.

GOTHAM---Jamie Chung will play reporter Valerie Vale, aunt of Vicki Vale.

Welcome back! And the Woody Allen-Kate Winslet news is appreciated!

The Star Wars news, of course, is NOT. wink

Lynda Carter was the star of the original SUPERGIRL series? If she's the President, why would Wonder Woman's invisible jet be involved unless she's playing a dual role as WW?
And of course, if the jet's invisible, it wouldnt appear even if it was part of the story. wink

Many of these titles supposedly in production have been in the rumor mill for 10-15 years.

Jamie Chung is a cutie. I approve.

Jesus Christ: the Sequel? Jesus Christ: Back In Action? Jesus Christ: Return of the Living Dead?

Oh, man, so many sequels and remakes. So damn depressing. What is there to really look forward to? PROMETHEUS 2 (as in # 2, which for me is what the first one was). Another Star Wars, now with Darth Vader back. Next best thing to going back in time to the late '70s, I guess. CHRIST 2? What? The first one wasn't punishment enough, at least for JC himself?

Other than news of a new Woody Allen movie (looking forward to his current one), the only other thing of interest to me is the WOLF MAN reboot, but that news is the most depressing of all! Dwayne Johnson as the star?!!!! I wouldn't even want to see him play the Wolf Man's first victim in a new movie. Holy shit! What runs the movie business these days?!

Sometimes I wish they'd just take all the guns in movies and just shoot me with them. (Now let's see how long it takes for the reply to that?)

Yeah, I figured... so I guess the reference to the WW jet was a joke, eh?

Is this a joke photo from the movie set or something? Why is the black stormtrooper holding white stormtrooper action figure?

LMAO!

Between this and Wonder Woman's invisible jet comment I think dragon53 is just having some fun with his posts. I like these funny little "Easter eggs".

The invisible jet won't appear in the new WONDER WOMAN movie. I was racing the clock to finish posting and made a mistake.

Some at Berlanti Productions likes Sky High, since we've got Danielle Panabaker on The Flash and now Lynda Carter on Supergirl. Maybe Bruce Campbell or Kelly Preston will turn up on one of the Berlantiverse shows. smile

Maybe the Empire is after a rebel family which has a child in it. So far their only lead is this stormtrooper doll which was left behind.

In Episode IV, Luke is briefly seen playing with a toy spaceship, so toys aren't unprecedented in the SW galaxy.

so toys aren't unprecedented in the SW galaxy.

That is an understatement.

I think more money has been made by Lucas and others from all the SW toys than from the boxoffice of the movies themselves.

Another reason why I consider SW strictly for kids. Come on, be honest guys, don't you really have to turn off your brain's higher functions to really enjoy and get into SW?

Oh come on! Like there isn't a ton of toys and models for Planet of the Apes franchise.

Ready for it....

Not until it was turned into a TV series aimed squarely at kids, my friend.

Before 1974 there were no toys or models, though to be honest there was a Topps bubble-gum card set in 1968, which was much cherished by my nine-year-old self.

But nothing like SW. Lucas made sure he got licensing rights for that stuff before he even made the first movie, I believe. That Fox knew what he was doing.
