Hello all
I'm new to these message boards, residing in the UK. I've been purchasing soundtracks on & off over the years but have recently got back into them in a big way. I've recently discovered the delights of labels such as Intrada & La-La Land. Coming to it a bit late though I'm frustrated by having missed the boat on some titles which are now OOP. For example, I happened upon SEVEN DAYS IN MAY & THE MACKINTOSH MAN & whooped for joy (MACKINTOSH MAN is a favourite of mine) only to be crushed by its now virtual unavailability. I've discovered other titles which I've had to fork out £20-£30 for. Is there anywhere online which sells these OOP titles readily or is it a long trawl through Amazon & Ebay & a hope there's a seller who isn't in the market for ripping customers off? Given that I live in the UK I'm also mindful of potentially extortionate import taxes on US purchases. Is it a case of tough luck? Hopefully somebody can help me in my dilemma.

I would check out the TRADING POST. I've had a ton of success with some of FSM's finest buying and trading for OOP releases.

Patience and active searching are my best advice.

Alternatively start a post in the Trading Post asking for what you want; maybe eliminate some of that waiting time whiel searching for something in your price range.

Many thanks for the advice.
I've had a bit of bad luck with Elite Soundtracks. I was after THEATER OF BLOOD. Although it did say SOLD OUT it also stated there were copies in stock & allowed me to order it - conflicting information. Payment was duly taken & I received an email to say the order was pending. I assumed all this meant was they'd be able to get copies from a separate source. I waited patiently for a week then contacted them to see if all was okay. They replied to say they couldn't get a copy but would refund payment. Fair enough but I think their website could do with a bit of tweaking to prohibit any accidental ordering of non-existent product.
Bizarrely I've now found a new copy of THEATER OF BLOOD through the Amazon.France marketplace. And not much more expensive than the original asking price.
I'll take your advice though & use Trading Post.
Does anybody know if THE SHINING may be available on CD anytime soon or is it mired in copyright hell?

Wendy Carlos released her synth portions of The Shining score a few years back as a two part album
Along with some other film themes.
As for the rest of it, yeah... Copyright problems.
I think you can track down those classical pieces on other albums though. There was a thread about that here recently.

If you are looking for the Wendy Carlos Rediscovering Lost Scores Vol 1 and Vol 2 that contain her rejected / unused score and demos be careful it took me several tries thru third party sellers to not get bootlegs / counterfeit CDs of her albums. usually the counterfeit copies look so good you'd almost never know even the infer disc info is the same. the discs are generally flimsy and feel cheaply made. If the price is too good believe me it is! Usually ask if they are the main owner from when they were still in print.
