Not only that, but after all of us were talking up the new release, I believe Eddie bought the old one, cause it was cheaper I guess. Jeez! wink

But at least she got it (hey I liked the original version too, just that it's superseded.)

Clearly still have nothing to say about this release.

Edwina - the Warlock release talk was I think a conversation with me, a different Sean. Not better, just different. smile

I wish I had something to say about Is Paris Burning? but I don't have it yet. I will one day, it's on the list.

Oh boy, I'm embarrassed but at least I did get the first name right. I love both Seans. Anyway, I saw a copy of it the other day and almost scooped it up. I am determined to get it soon. smile

Hello E, how ya been! smile

Well then, mission accomplished, getting at least one other human out there to enjoy this fine work.
They did a great performance here from the original that is quite different, but not in a bad wrong-note way - my favorite type of recording that keeps the spirit of the original while offering a new interpretation. It was a labor of love, and that shines through.

Goldsmith's Warlock? Lucky you didn't live with this on the old, original Intrada cd like I did for am eternity - the restoration is the one to play. The previously missing elements, now restored, seem subtle, but trust me - the two cds are very different.

Cheers, enjoy the foosball!
Sean

Hi Sean, I have been fine and hope you are well. I actually do have the original Intrada release of Warlock and if I recall, the other Sean told me the same thing - the new release is totally different. When two Seans give you the same advice, you listen!

I will definitely let you know about Is Paris Burning? I am looking forward to it, trust me. Take care.

Excellent, glad to hear - always safe to take good score advice from a Sean haha.
Thanks for hearing me out on this one, been on a Jarre-page this week, needed it....
I must add the vocal setting at the end is also magnificent, as others stated. I hope Melinda has a career ahead of her - I started envisioning a disc of Jarre songs by her (Last Tycoon, Almost an Angel, Shadow of the wolf for examples). Would be terrific, just what James F. wants to hear, more recording suggestions! Just kidding ;-)

This is a very good recording, I listened to it this week several times, and every time I liked it even more. Very fascinating score, probably one of Jarre's best. The piano parts are particularly interesting. I listened to this recording now several times, and every time I like it even more. There are many musical quotes interwoven (anthems, wedding march, etc.), and you can "feel" what the music is about even if you have not seen the movie.

I've played it and the original lately--my favorite Jarre score. I've been playing all of Jarre's 60s scores in chronological order. I'm on 1969 now, about to start Villa Rides. A tremendous decade for him.
