I love Arby's. I'm going there for lunch today.

A Tadlow re-recording is desperately needed. James Fitzpatrick already pursued this and was shot down. At this point I don't think we'll be seeing any re-recordings of old Williams scores during his lifetime, unless it's somehow something he's directly involved with. Hopefully one day the complete original tapes will turn up... Yavar

Agreed 100% as this is one of my very favorite Williams scores. Speaking of Williams favorites that need a complete new recording: my #1 favorite, Jane Eyre. I remember James Fitzpatrick commenting that he'd like to do it too, since there is more than made it onto the album, which is otherwise lost for certain. Yavar

The sound quality on the existing CD of DRACULA is terrible. I sincerely hope masters can be located for either an expansion or remastered release of the original album. One of my favorite Williams scores. What makes this possibility so exciting is the new remastering technology we have today. Several scores redone by La La Land are like listening to all new music with the increase in depth and fidelity (STAR TREK- THE MOTION PICTURE, TORA! TORA! TORA!, etc.). Also some by Intrada (JAWS, THE GREAT ESCAPE) and Quartet (PAPILLON). And the Varese release of THE COWBOYS is outstanding! And, frankly, I'm not nearly as big on re-recordings as others unless that's the only way to hear it (RAISE THE TITANIC, THE SALAMANDER). Rarely have I heard improvements on the originals. SCOTT P.S. Another one of the same mold I'd like to see redone is the MCA/Varese CD of MASADA, for the same reasons- poor sound. A re-recording that I really like since it was all we had for 25 years!

Fast Food and Film Music! Man, that's a reach. Sometimes, Kev, I’m not sure it is I’ll have a Double Zimmer, three McBalfes, and a large Diet Doyle to wash it all down.

It's funny how we all hear things so differently. I think the sound of the MCA/MASADA-Varese CD issue is pretty good. I think there's some tape hiss, but I prefer that than deadening the life out of it. MACARTHUR also sounds splendid to my ears on the Varese CD.

I bet you'd be amazed with what someone like La La Land could do with MASADA. Probably never happen, but I'm sure Varese might could upgrade it too, if that's where it would have to come from. I do agree that MACARTHUR does sound good. And, despite many saying it's awful, I like their version of CHINATOWN. SCOTT

How to make DRACULA sound good (well, maybe not good, but definitely better): Just play the Main Titles from about 2:55 on through the end and listen to the woodwinds, French Horns and strings. Compare to the original.

You need an EQ built into whatever you use to play back your music. If you are playing back on a computer, most music playback programs have some kind of EQ. What I posted above are parametric EQ settings - just reproduce them. If you just have a graphic EQ, you can approximate. Basically it's about a 4 - 6 db boost between 2000 and 4500 hz.

Brilliant! Hadn't occurred to me to just replicate that, but as you explain, it sounds pretty easy. Thanks!
