Armstrong has another new album out on CD, with Scott Fraser. "Rosa Morta" consists of 9 tracks, all created on various vintage synthesizers, with occasional use of electronic bass and piano.
It's not entirely a film score, though two tracks were apparently used as score in the 2010 film "Neds".
The whole thing feels like a film score though, much like his other solo albums.
The album was released digitally in April, but only came out on CD this week.
I'm glad he continues releasing non-scores like these. Other composers should learn from him (do you hear me Zimmer, JNH, Newman who all seem stuck in film score land).
This album is GORGEOUS, best score(ish) album of the year so far, in my opinion. Very similar to his lovely, achingly romantic, sweepingly melodic VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN score last year.

Thomas Newman has released in 2014 - as you probably know - the non film work CD "35 Whirlpools below sound" (with Rick Cox) and has composed the same year theatre music for the production of As you Like It in Washington DC. Not so stuck in the film score land...
