I liked the Tyler fanfare, but the new one might be suitable to usher in a wider variety of movies... maybe that's why Tyler's was left off most of them?
I think it sounds like Giacchino. In particular Giacchino in Jurassic Park mode—either Jurassic World or the Jurassic Park: The Lost World video game. Especially those playful opening flutes.
Shame they're replacing Tyler's fanfare. I actually really liked that one and prefer it to Giacchino's here. But I can maybe see why they decided to do this. Tyler's, while still heroic, has a bit of a dark edge to it, whereas Giacchino's is bright and optimistic. Perhaps this is just one way in which Marvel is distancing themselves from the darkness and dreariness of DC, which appears to be going out of vogue anyway.
Question: Has Giacchino scored any past Marvel films or is he scoring any of them coming up?

He's scoring DOCTOR STRANGE.
Uh, did this just happen? Wasn't Christopher Young scoring it up until pretty recently or was that wishful speculation from this board that I somehow interpreted as fact?
Edit: Nevermind, I found the old thread. Looks like Giacchino was revealed awhile ago, and it sounds like Christopher Young himself was hopeful he would get to score it at one point.
I like the new theme. I hope Giacchino does well with Dr Strange and doesn't score it like an action film but more mysteriouso- ultimately it depends on the sound the filmmakers want however. Won't lie- a Chris Young score could have been really cool and definitely in his wheelhouse.
It's very similar to Tyler's, actually. But with the character footage, they took a more is more approach. Wasn't really broke before, although I always thought the low brass motif in Tyler's sounded like James Horner's Genesis Countdown.
I like this a lot. Very long though. I hope there's an abbreviated version they'll use. The amount of logos, graphics and fanfares in front of movies these days is out of control.
I like the music well enough, but this logo feels like an entire movie. (In fairness, it's actually shorter than both the Horner 75th Anniversary Universal logo and the "When You Wish Upon a Star" Disney castle intro.) Not sure why they felt they needed a new theme, given they rarely seem to use it anyway, but they can do as they please.
Maybe they'll just show it in front of Dr Strange to remind viewers that this is a Marvel Movieverse movie, since the trailers haven't connected it to the other films at all, really.

Good point. Let's hope that's the case because it would be a bit much to have before every film. It goes on for twice as long as it has to. If it simply cut to the title at 16 seconds and ended there it would be fine.
Absolutely love Giacchino's tune in this. I can't remember the last time I played (and replayed) some logo music this many times. Hope it finds its way to Doc Strange's album!
