The producer of the film "Air Force One" has sent a cease and desist letter to the campaign of a certain candidate, indicating that Jerry would not approve of his music being used for political purposes. (And they never offered to pay for use of the music, either.)

For the information of all who appreciate film music and do not approve of its misappropriation.

I propose that the other camp gets to use Supergirl?

P.S. too bad IMDB only lists "The Screaming Woman" as using Goldsmith stock music.

Katz has probably summed up Goldsmith's feelings properly, but does she actually speak for somebody who owns the music or this performance of the music? The campaign could call up Silva Screen and license their recording from Prague.

I heard it that night and immediately recognized it, then I almost barfed.
Harrison Ford's President would seriously kick his butt.

I hope they are successful in getting the music withdrawn.

I don't like Trump. I will not be voting for Trump, but let's clear up this nonsensical article, shall we?

1. The studio owns the rights, not the producer.

2. No campaign, or anybody else looking to license the music, has to ask a producer of the film the music originated in, when the studio owns it.

3. Gail is speaking on behalf of a dead man. Wake me when it's a family member.

And finally, 4: nowhere in the article does it say the msuic is unlicensed. So, the subject line is misleading.

This is basically what I call a junk news article. This was nothing more than something that shoudl have been the angry ramblings of a person on a blog, thinking they can just sue for the hell of it.

Using popular/famous music in political campaigns makes me cringe. (License or not) I don't vote based on music, fireworks or balloons.

To: Donald J.Trump’s presidential campaign
Re: Usage of the theme from AIR FORCE ONE

Last week, Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump staged a publicity event by landing his helicopter in Cleveland to the powerful, heroic theme from the film Air Force One starring Harrison Ford.

The music for Air Force One was composed and conducted by the legendary Oscar-winning film composer Jerry Goldsmith. Jerry’s music was hijacked in a misguided attempt to associate Trump with the film and the President in that film. The Wall Street Journal recently identified Harrison Ford's portrayal of the President in Air Force One as the #1 fictional President in film or television.

At no point were the filmmakers contacted to ask for permission to use Jerry’s music for the Republican campaign. We sincerely hope that Donald Trump and the Republicans do not use the Air Force One score in the future. It is a misappropriation of the music and the good will of the film, and we want to make sure that it does not imply any endorsement of the Republican ticket by the filmmakers.

The Trump campaign's misappropriation of songs and music over the repeated objections of authors and performers is just one more reason why on November 8 the American voters will send a clear message to Donald Trump – “Stay off our plane!”
