The film is in post production now and I haven't heard anything about Howard Shore writing the score, except that he was attached to the project in November 2014 (when the film was due to be released in November 2015). Anybody know if he's still scoring it?

Robbie Robertson has worked on the score according to this article:
"Martin Scorsese’s much-anticipated new film Silence is “so different from anything he’s ever done,” says his musician friend Robbie Robertson, who is working on the soundtrack."
Supposedly Robertson and Scorsese are best friends.
I saw the film, and outside of sound design involving nature sounds, the only thing I noticed that sounded remotely score-like was some chimes and occasional voices.
That they even bothered to submit this "score" for Oscar consideration fairly blows my mind.
On the other hand, this approach makes me feel less bad that Shore wasn't used.
