Fri Night: EFNY, They Live and Assault Sat Night: Fog, Thing & Big Trouble
Last night I heard (and saw) EFNY on film for the first time ever. Told a friend that it had a distinct LP feeling hearing the music from a great print with an optical soundtrack.
They Live is the ONLY pre 1992 Carpenter I'd seen previous to this weekend.
Couldn't stay awake for Assault.
I would highly highly highly recommend seeing these on film if ever given the chance.
Oh man, that sounds absolutely amazing! The only thing missing from that program is Halloween (and maybe In the Mouth of Madness for a little latter-day Carpenter ). But for six films over two nights that is an amazing line-up. Shame you missed Assault on Precinct 13 because that really is a great film (and it just happens to feature my personal favorite score from JC). You should check it out when you get the chance.
If I ever get the chance to attend something like this, I will be there in a heartbeat.
The turn out was so high it's guaranteed they'll do it again next year. Of the 5 I was awake for, 3 of the prints looked great. And Big Trouble sounded fantastic broadcast through a lot full of car stereos.
