Me too. 'The Map' sound even better now and that not just just because of the 13 second coda infused in the end. I find the overall remastering and tweaking of the high end sound more palatable. So kudos to the team!
If only Goldsmith had lived long enough to score the fourth Rambo flick. Damn that woulda been one of his darkest, most intense action scores for sure. Probably would have resembled his horror scores more than anything with that level of violence.
I remember a rumor(?) years ago back when Joel was still alive, that he was going to score the new Rambo film. How sweet that would have been. Nope, instead all the sweetness was drummed out of it by Tyler.
While both DEEP RISING & LEVIATHAN raked at the lowest barrel of the box offices, I found the humour on DEEP to be at least fresh and enjoyable. In comparison to LEVIATHAN, DEEP RISING is like CITIZEN KANE.
Finally got this album and it's incredible. The sound quality in comparison to the previous releases is a quantum jump. Plus all the extras! I was expecting the end credits tape transfer to sound awful, but it's just fine. And BRILLIANT! I get why it wasn't used, it's tonally inappropriate, but that doesn't detract from its genius. Lovely!
What made me really smile was "Rambo Promo No. 2 (Revised)." This was the cue from which the cartoon series derived it's theme. I originally thought it was the first promo, but nope, this one is it.
Incredible album, and a phenomenal score to a fun film. Thanks Intrada and giant salute to Mr. Goldsmith.
This score kicks so much ass. I must have listened to this one over a hundred times since first buying it on cassette back in the late eighties. I still marvel how awesome it is. I've had no problems buying this one 4 times.
Just to clarify. Was there an error on this specific soundtrack when it was first released?
IIRC, there were a few seconds missing from the end of Track 03 - "The Map", and Intrada corrected the discs during the production run so only the first batch had the error. Of course, they replaced the disc at no cost.
I *think* my copy was from that erroneous first run (I ordered from Intrada via Amazon), but I never bothered to look into it as I'm happy with the copy I have. It's among my favorite and most-replayed scores.
I’m checking out this release on Spotify right now; did the 35mm OST version of “Village Attack / Helicopter Fight” mistakenly end up in the CD 1 complete score presentation? “Pilot Over” in the complete score sounds fantastic, but then you get to the next track “Village Attack / Helicopter Fight” and the mix there sounds quite different/less clear to me…
Interestingly enough, the mix of the later version of that track in the OST presentation, sounds a lot better to my ears and more in-line with the sound of the complete score, which made me wonder if maybe there was a mix-up. Or am I just going crazy (or at least deaf)?
