STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---creator Bryan Fuller released new details about the series, “We’re telling a Star Trek novel over 13 episodes." He said the lead character is a female "Lieutenant Commander---with caveats" and that the role might be a black female. Fuller added, “We’ve seen six shows from a Captain’s point of view —STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will show the bridge from a different perspective.” He said about the main plot, “There’s an incident, an event in Star Trek history in the history of Starfleet that had been talked about but never fully explored. [We’re telling] that story through a character who is on a journey that is going to teach her how to get along with others in the galaxy.” The incident is not Kobayashi Maru, the Romulan War and doesn't involve Black Ops Section 31 (Starfleet’s black-ops), but it was mentioned in the original tv series and Trekkies, “should be very happy. It’s something I want to see.” He added, “We’ll probably have a few more aliens than you normally do in a Star Trek cast,” Fuller revealed. “We’re going to have new exciting aliens and also re-imaginings of existing aliens." Fuller said the new series will, “bridge the gap between Enterprise and the original series,” and is “about 10 years before Kirk” and his five-year mission. He said, “There will be robots." On diversity, he said, "We’re absolutely having a gay character." When Fuller was on the DEEP SPACE NINE staff, he kept fan mail protesting the rumor that Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) might be a lesbian. He hinted that Amanda Grayson (Spock’s mother) might be in the series, “I love that character. I loved Winona Ryder’s portrayal of her [in the 2009 movie] and it’s a great character. It would be fun in some iteration of this show to incorporate her and her storyline she’s not a central part of the show but we love that character.” Fuller added about profanity, “There will probably be slightly more graphic content...We discuss every day about language… Is it appropriate to have a bridge blow up and have somebody say, ‘Oh, s—t?'” The opening scene is, “not set on Earth, and not on a planet." There will be, “about seven” lead characters, and “wholeheartedly” that‘ Lee Pace (PUSHING DAISIES) might be involved.
WORLD WAR Z---David Fincher is in talks to direct the Brad Pitt sequel. Fincher directed Pitt in SE7EN, FIGHT CLUB and THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON.
SCARFACE---Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY, THE EQUALIZER) is in talks to direct the remake of the 1983 Al Pacino movie.
JACK RYAN---creator Carlton Cuse commented on the FX tv series based on the Tom Clancy character, “We started working on an adaptation on Clear and Present Danger and then decided it just felt dated. It really led to this revelation that the thing that defined Tom Clancy was that his thrillers were very much geopolitical thrillers of the moment. They really tapped into something that was going on in the world, so we’re doing an ISIS/ISIL type story. It feels very much connected to what’s happening in the world right now.” John Krasinski (THE OFFICE, 13 HOURS) stars as Jack Ryan.
GOTHAM---photo released of Benedict Samuel (THE WALKING DEAD) as Mad Hatter.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---Michael Cherus (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) will play The Tinkerer in the reboot movie.
AQUAMAN---Black Manta will be the movie's main villain.
THE FLASH---Grey Damon will play Mirror Master on the tv series.
THE CROW---Jason Momoa is in talks to star in the long-gestating remake movie.
AMERICAN PLAYBOY: THE HUGH HEFNER STORY---new Amazon 13-episode docuseries on the Playboy founder.
COCAINE GODMOTHER---Jennifer Lopez will star in this HBO tv movie about 1970s Colombian drug-smuggling kingpin Griselda Blanco.
QUEEN OF THE AIR---Margot Robbie will star in this Warner Bros. movie about Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus trapeze artist Lillian Leitzel and her ill-fated love affair with Alfred Cordona.
MEN IN BLACK 23---Jonah Hill said about the crossover movie involving MEN IN BLACK and 21 JUMP STREET, “I had the idea, but I doubt that movie will get made,” Hill stated. “It’s too complicated. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the ‘Men in Black’ stuff.

It's also a shit idea, so there's that. MiB 3 was a good ending for the series. Let's leave it at that. And let's make for damn sure that this worthless idea doesn't see the light of day.
A David Fincher World War Z film would definitely be of interest. I rather enjoyed World War Z and thought it had some decent sequences that were pretty tense. I hardly noticed the bloodlessness of it and got over the computer gamey nature of the swarms of the undead pretty quick.
As stupid as 23 Men Jump in Black Street would be, i'd think like to see it just for the ridiculousness of the idea. I liked the Jump Street films and the MiB films are watchable enough. It seemed like a very random crazy mash-up idea to have in the first place.
I have loved Star Trek for quite a while, but for some reason the more they talk about this new show the less interesting it gets to me. I am starting to wonder if the "ship has sailed on Trek"
The trailer for the The Exorcist actually looks pretty good. The admission/declaration that it is a story with a definite beginning and end impresses me. (Yay - lets hear it for non-franchise tales!)
World War Z is a story that needs a sequel. I want to find out what happened/happens. Seems to be a long-gestating project, so hopefully it eventually gets done.

Have you ever wondered that perhaps the entertainment ship has sailed past you?

Why not just concentrate on good writing instead of shoehorning in profanity to be "edgy" ? Tell an adult, exciting story well enough and nobody has to say "Oh, s-t " . In some cases and genres, "graphic content" and profanity can serve the story well. This just sounds like a crutch.

I'm sure they'll do just that. I suspect Fuller is simply talking about where the Standards & Practices constraints will be for this Trek, as opposed to the previous ones.
"Oh, shit" would be a perfectly natural, reasonable real-life response to something like, say, imminent and certain death, a major disaster, etc., and there will surely be stories in which it would be reasonable for a character to say. I don't think that means Fuller (or anyone else making Star Trek) intends to fill all character dialogue with constant, wall-to-wall colorful metaphors.
Why must they have to include another gay character? Yes, is is a major way of life now, but why do they feel the need to force this on us? I had all intentions to see Star Trek : Beyond until they announced that there was going to be a gay character. I still have not seen it and think I am done with any future Treks though the LGBT zone. I had high hopes for the new Trek TV series until the above news. Are they going to include a transgender character too? Doctor Who was also ruined for with Captain Jack. who they are talking about bring back and I never watched Torchwood.
The next thing they will probably do is a Supergirl / Flash musical cross over!

I saw ST Beyond, and the gay aspect is virtually non-existent. It's nothing. You could literally blink and miss the split-second suggestion that Sulu is gay (or that maybe he was met at the airport by his brother and slapped an arm over his shoulder). It's brief, vague, and completely open to a "straight guys" interpretation.
Beyond is actually an okay movie, and noticeably better than Into Darkness.
Ugh, yeah, and why must we suffer through all those straight relationships too? I know a lot of people are straight, but why must TV and movie people force it on us? Entertainment should in fact be completely sexless and celibate.

I was going to reply as well, but after noting the final sentence in Kim's post I figured she/he was making some sort of joking comment about the people who actually think that.

Ugh, yeah, you're right. I've been living in a fog and am apparently missing the obvious.

You have more faith in Fuller than I do. For me, he's not quite as bad as Ryan Murphy but...close After his last few series, especially Hannibal... the guy should never be allowed to use Final Draft again. Ever.

It is always quite difficult to design such movies given the difficulty of scénar but these films there is the bomb.

major way of life? no, it is not, it is about 4%, although the movement would like you to think it is indeed much more
