A monumental voice in folk music. Will be sorely missed.

And what an interesting guy he was, and what a full life he led: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/13/arts/music/glenn-yarbrough-folk-singer-with-the-limeliters-dies-at-86.html?_r=0 As our family belonged to the RCA Record Club in the '50s, and we often forgot to send in the card foregoing the next offering, an album entitled "Tonight: In Person The Limeliters" appeared unexpectedly on our doorstep one day. From the first listen we were hooked, and that record was played many times in our home. I was listening to the CD just a few days ago, and wondering how Mr. Yarbrough was doing and what he might be up to. I loved that amazing voice, the music and humor of the Limeliters, "Baby the Rain Must Fall" and pretty much anything else he ever cared to record. I was sorry to hear that he has died, but pleased to discover in reading the article what a principled person he was, one who chose to seek out what was most meaningful for him even at the cost of the easy fortune which his wonderful talent made possible for him. RIP Glenn Yarbrough. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

And thank YOU, Dana, for sharing that. I don't think I ever had a Limelghters LP, but I certainly enjoyed them whenever they turned up on TV. Now I'm thinking I should go looking for one of their CD's. Would you recommend I start with the one that first got you hooked way back then?

And thank YOU, Dana, for sharing that. I don't think I ever had a Limelghters LP, but I certainly enjoyed them whenever they turned up on TV. Now I'm thinking I should go looking for one of their CD's. Would you recommend I start with the one that first got you hooked way back then? It's the only one I've owned, and I can't remember much about any others I might have heard subsequently...so, yes, I'd recommend that one! Some humor, some old tried-and-trues, and a couple drop-dead gorgeous ballads. Here's the Amazon listing -- $5! https://www.amazon.com/Tonight-Person-Limeliters/dp/B0012GN440/ref=sr_1_4?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1471278267&sr=1-4&keywords=the+limeliters It's of an era, but I think you'll enjoy it. You can audition the tracks on that listing -- listen in particular to "The Far Side of the Hill" and "Seven Dafodils." "Madeira M'Dear" is a hoot. I'm not sure Yarbrough was still around for some of the other albums listed on Amazon, but it looks like most of "Tonight: In Person The Limeliters" is included on the 2-disc import set.
