Any unsolved crimes involving film music?

Sort of. One involves Doug Timm. The other terry Plumeri. And they're not funny.

Why would one assume a cold case is funny?

Is Plumeri's killer still at large? What an awful situation. A very talented and underutilized composer. His MR. ATLAS score really shows what he could do with a big orchestra.

I guess because your thread seemed to be a 'funny' spin-off of the multiple 'court case' threads.

That is how I read the other title, which prompted my question.

Did the Doug Timm murder remain unsolved?

It still is unclear as to whether the death of Gary McFarland (EYE OF THE DEVIL) was an accident or foul play. One account reads that "on the afternoon of November 2, 1971 while with a friend in a New York City bar, he ingested a drink into which liquid methadone had been poured. He suffered a fatal heart attack and died instantly."

This didn't even occur to me, because I don't think of Gary McFarland as a film composer, but I certainly think there was foul play involved, as the documentary seemed to suggest IIRC.

Soi they haven't caught either guy?
