As a huge fan of this classic horror score which was given the royal treatment in 2013 by Intrada, I was astounded when I came across the soundtrack's listing on Amazon for $185.94 (used) and $53.95 (new). I certainly hope these sellers don't con fans into buying it for highly inflated prices like that when Intrada is still offering it on their website for it's original price of $29.95! Buyers Beware!!

If you would actually pay that for a CD, you deserve to be bilked out of your money.

It's not just Amazon, at least twice I've seen users here on FSM, offering a title that is readily available and in print at a lower price, at a higher price. Why?

Opportunism

Why?

Because people want to make money and they know there's a lot of gullible people on the internet.

If you say something's mega-rare, somebody somewhere just might believe it.

Cheers

There are also WaterTower Editions of this score and LOGAN'S RUN at Amazon(com), even though they are still available via Screen Archives or Intrada. What is with these? Presumably, they are simply re-editions of the previous releases, same content, same mastering... don't know about the booklet. WaterTower is part of WB, so I dont think they are bootlegs.

Yeah I think these are on demand dics without the deluxe booklets. But can't beat the prices. WaterTower has a number of titles on amazon, that were previous limited editions

If you say something's mega-rare, somebody somewhere just might believe it.

They amp up the misperception of rareness by listing new releases as "Now OOP!!!" (out of print), which is technically accurate for limited releases, but their high prices imply they're sold out. roll eyes And unfortunately buyers on Amazon or Ebay dont know there's other sources at the normal price.

And unfortunately buyers on Amazon or Ebay dont know there's other sources at the normal price.

It's unfortunate that a lot of our labels' releases haven't been more widely distributed to Amazon (at least in the UK, maybe it's better in America). Varese titles have always seemed to be listed, and also some of the Quartet releases are made available these days.

I remember my first purchase with one of the limited edition labels (Intrada). Can't remember how I found them, but I do remember being wary of ordering from a (then) unknown supplier in America, and why I couldn't just buy the CD on Amazon. It just made me wonder about the legitimacy of these releases, and if there was something dodgy that was preventing Amazon stocking them, especially as Amazon was the only place I'd shop at for CD purchases.

Perhaps others also don't realise there's another world out there...

Watching this weekend and it's proving to be a real slog. So far, the scariest thing is David Soul's haircut.

Finished watching last night. Nowhere near as scary as I remember from when I was a kid, but I am glad I saw it again.

I always found it spooky rather than scary, especially the floating boy outside the window and Geoffrey Lewis's rocking-chair vampire.

Yes, that was what made the impression on me as a kid.
