I actually think his score for The Final Frontier is superior to TMP, so it wins by virtue of Kobayashi Maru-ing your question. Repeat to myself: "Other people have valid opinions." "Other people have valid opinions." "Other people have valid opinions." "Other people have valid opinions."

There is a correct answer to this question and it's TFF as basically everyone has noted. However, I'll make three other points: --The First Contact theme blew me away in the theater in 1996, and it has that amazing seventies style string "bridge" (around 1:35 - 2:04 of the main title) that sounds like something out of "The Cassandra Crossing," which is to say that it's great. --Insurrection has two of my favorite Goldsmith melodies of all time-- the Baku Village theme, and then the "New Sight" (love) theme. It's amazing that he was still coming up with stuff like that in 1998. --Nemesis is a bit of a chore in parts, yes, but the surround sound SACD is probably the best-sounding Goldsmith Trek sequel score. At the very least, cranking up the end title in surround is a frequent stress reliever of mine.

I'm torn... For me, First Contact and Insurrection had the strongest themes. First Contact had the best finale. I loved Final Frontier's atmosphere, but I didn't latch onto the themes as much. It all felt like Warlock meets Rambo wrapped up in Star Trek. Yet it had the highest number of highlights. Not to mention of these, First Contact is the best film. Decisions, decesions...onto Nemesis?

Not to mention of these, First Contact is the best film. No, no, no... that would be Insurrection.

The Final Frontier for me, as well. Depending on the mood I'm in, I actually enjoy it more than TMP at times. And personally, I feel that TFF's version of the Main Title is the quintessential recording of that particular piece.
