The superb thriller EYE OF THE NEEDLE will be available for pre-order next Wednesday, 31st Aug at 4 pm EST...NOTE: a special treat for Miklos Rozsa fans in store -- the isolated score track is the first ever release of the original tracks, featuring music withdrawn from the film prior to release -- a real find!
Oh GOD please let this be released on CD...but by virtue of special licensing having to do with their own re-recording of the score, Varese controls this in perpetuity so only they can do it. A few years ago they elected to do an Encore Edition of their re-recording rather than a Deluxe Edition with both recordings as they've sometimes done. I hope that they now consider doing a DE of the film recording premiere as they did with The Great Escape.
For those curious, other titles that Varese controls the film recordings on by virtue of releasing their own re-recordings: Horner's Brainstorm and Elfman's Pee-Wee.

Now that's exciting! In addition to 'English Wedding' [think that's the right title] and one or two other bits on the soundtrack re-recording, I did read once that quite a bit more of the score also wasn't used.
There will also be an Audio Commentary with Music Historian Jon Burlingame and Film Historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman.
I wonder if that's a good sign there will be a Varese release soon. I hope it's in stereo. I hate to buy this blu-Ray just for the iso track then have a CD released soon after. I wish Varese would say they are but they don't announce future releases before the actual announcement.
