All right, I'll play --not that anyone cares, but..... First and foremost, I'd have to go with DOCTOR DOLITTLE. Knock the film all you want (and I won't, because I've never understood all the negativity that's thrown its way, even if it is far from great), but the Leslie Bricusse score remains one of my favorites. Every single song.... And I'm glad to have the separate interpretations of the score by the likes of Sammy Davis Jr., Bobby Darin, and Anthony Newley. Especially that rare and wonderful jazz album by Gordon Beck. Then, of course, there's Goldsmith's PLANET OF THE APES. On that subject there's nothing left to be said, except that it's brilliant. And then, there's GOODBYE,MR. CHIPS. I'm glad that the wonderful FSM CD set brought it back into the sun after years of languishing under the grey clouds of failure, as I believe that it's another underrated Bricusse effort. And all the things that John Williams does with it in his scoring... Just listen to the overture. Magnificent.
