Korngold, symphony, violin concerto & film music all conducted by Andre Previn on the Eloquence label. Eloquence is an Australian music label that releases classical recordings from the Philips/Decca/DG labels. The two CD set is culled from three releases, & very good, quite cheap too.
The announcement of "The Ten Commandments" is a culmination moment for me in 30 plus years of collecting film music. This score is really the last significant "Grail" title I have been waiting for and now that it's coming and because of so many other changes in my life this past year in which I have to focus on other priorities, I've decided its time to wrap it up as far as adding new titles go. This means as I await "Ten Commandments" I've taken stock of how much space I have left and also because of a windfall in work I am now taking one last look at titles that have been released to see what I should get as well as "Ten Commandments" as I call it a day.
This doesn't mean after "Ten Commandments" is released I'll never again buy another CD. But it would *really* have to be something exceptional that I figured was lost and gone forever (like the original tracks for "Raise The Titanic") or something improbable like a lot of other 60s-70s TV show music that I doubt there'd ever be a market for. Better now to see what I've ignored (taking advantage of some of these other sales too that have come up) and fill the shelf and then say "Mission accomplished!" in this hobby and settle back and enjoy what there is (or discover some titles I bought and never really dove into).
