Does anyone out there have any idea what this is? Amazon provides little information except its existence and price. No track list or sound samples.

Is it something new and amazing? Or is it some b**tsy knockoff from overseas trying to capitalize on the upcoming movie remake?

Almost certainly a b**t. If you want actual tracks, go with the Rykodisc version (which is actually cheaper than the one you're asking about, and is a legitimate release):

https://www.amazon.com/Magnificent-Seven-Original-Soundtrack-Enhanced/dp/B00000C40G/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1474006795&sr=1-3&keywords=the+magnificent+seven+soundtrack

Personally, I enjoy the Sedares re-recording (Bernstein himself touts it in the liner notes as the best re-recording of this score, though its charms have been debated back and forth here more than once):

https://www.amazon.com/Bernstein-Elmer-Magnificent-Seven-Complete/dp/B000V9IJBW/ref=sr_1_5?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1474006956&sr=1-5&keywords=magnificent+seven+soundtrack

The latter is cheapest of all of the options, if cost is a consideration.

Happy hunting.

P. S. Another very fine option is the soundtrack for RETURN OF THE 7 -- in which EB re-used the MAG 7 score virtually unchanged, except that RETURN is stereo and sounds much better. This also is available through Amazon in a legitmate release (Rykodisc), and very reasonsbaly priced:

https://www.amazon.com/Return-Magnificent-Seven-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B000005Z5Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1474007271&sr=1-1&keywords=return+of+the+seven+soundtrack

End of dissertation. wink

It was released in Europe a few months ago, I'm not sure it's legal in the US but yes, it is the original version (remastered). But if you already have it, no need to buy it, especially when some real label will probably re-release it in a much better edition someday.

Here it is again from Amazon UK, still without sound samples. The basic track list matches the 1998 Ryko release. What the "4 bonus tracks" might be, your guess is as good as mine. What EB scores are set in New York? (The Rat Race, Henry Orient, Ghostbusters, A Rage in Harlem, Bringing Out the Dead, etc. ?) Could be anything . . . except The Magnificent Seven, of course. Note the UK price is a good deal lower than the US, perhaps because here it's an import.

(Dana Wilcox, pleased to see you are still riding tall around here. Good on ya! My visits in recent years have been infrequent.)

I actually passed away several years ago, but I still hang around here through force of habit... Now living in Texas, so I see we're next door neighbors, practically.

Here's a take I was unaware of---the EB arranged suite from Salt Lake City last year. The music is still out there.
