Great release! The score is much more satisfying in full form. Awesome liners by Jeff Bond too. I just have one slight niggle.

I hate to be the guy that points out what might be an audio glitch, but does anyone hear a blip blip blip noise right at the very end of the credits (BPRD, track 20, disk 2... abotu 6:45 to 6:47). Sounds exactly like a CD skipping noise to me, yet my disk looks fine. Was this some kind of electronic effect in the score, or is it a glitch? It's right as the orchestra fades out and seems an unusual place for such an effect. Anyone else hear it?

Chris.

There is a synth sound, which is supposed to be there around that time... just starting at particular volume and then going down...
Is that what you mean? I haven't got my copy yet... maybe tomorrow...

Oh yeah!!
I'm in smile

How about some high-res Cover art?
No color bleeding etc. just the plain high-res file.
It would be greatly appreciated.

It's on their website: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0799/0083/products/Hellboy_2048x2048.jpg?v=1473975720

This one is even "bigger" https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0799/0083/products/Hellboy.jpg
BUT it still has clippings :S

Whenever Varèse releases a new CD I hope for a digital release because then I can go over to iTunes and just get the "real" high-res artwork from them.
Most of the time...
I'm still waiting for one for SEVENTH SON because everything that's online looks horrible.
And I'm getting tired of not using artwork on my iPad or on my Sony Music player at home because Varèse refuses to put out quality artwork their releases deserve.
I would even pay extra for that privilege!

no reaction whatsoever from anybody here... that worries me!
i would like high-resolution cover artwork, too.

@drivingmissdaisy any chance you could make that happen?

i wouldn't go as far and say that i would pay extra but artwork is also very important to me and i spend way to much time trying to find it AND i agree that it should be included!

I went through our website and switched ALL covers to higher res ones. Also, the HELLBOY cover is 1500x1500 at 1500 pixels and 300 dpi. Isn't that useable for iPads? As for Seventh Son, we never release a limited edition and then simultaneously release it digitally. Also, we may not have digital rights to The Seventh Son. I don't work in legal so I don't know.

Thanks for the response smile
...the Hellboy cover is 1500x1500 at 300dpi but there's color bleeding in "Hellboy"s red font.
I guess I'm too sensitive about this, might be ocd I don't know big grin

I hope I didn't cause too much trouble.

I'm really looking forward to my copy of Hellboy!

Oh yeah and about SEVENTH SON I usually just try and contact the guy who was in charge of artwork (if he's credited) and sometimes even the composer.
Oh man am I anal.

Thanks again I guess I'll have to call you Daisy wink

It's definitely the same sound as in the video. If that's a synth that's creating it, then that's what it must be. Sorry for the false alarm! My tinnitus riddled ears aren't what they used to be! Like I said in the earlier post though, it's a great score and a really satisfying release. The old one always left me wanting more!

That sound you think you hear was supposed to be in there, this was approved by the composer Marco Beltrami. If you feel it shouldn't be in there, you may need to reach out to Marco to let him know he's wrong, but this was an approved master by him smile

Furthermore, the same kind of synth effect opens this particular piece wink

No, no, I'm good! Happy to admit I was wrong on this one. Cheers,

@mockiteur
yup! i also see color bleeding :S
the jpg's definitively compressed but you also have to think about the site's traffic because every time someone as crazy as us downloads a 2mb picture it's gonna affect the site

@drivingmissdaisy
do you see it too?

about the site traffic... or is that of no concern since vareses artwork is stored on shopify?
i'd be really interested to find out smile

cheers peeps

Whatever issues you see while looking at the cover on the internet is NOT in the printed booklet. Red's don't look good sometimes on the internet especially Facebook. We have good size artwork up on the site that is 1500x1500, 300dpi. This is all you will receive on our site. This is sufficient for all your online, iTunes needs.

I have to say, since I picked this up at WonderCon, I'm absolutely loving the Deluxe Edition.

Absolutely fantastic release !!!
