MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

LOST IN SPACE---Taylor Russell (FALLING SKIES) will play Judy Robinson in the Netflix remake tv series. Marta Kristen played Judy in the original series.

JURASSIC WORLD 2---director JA Bayona said the sequel's estimated budget is $260 million. JURASSIC WORLD's budget was an estimated $150 million.

JUSTICE LEAGUE---Zack Snyder released a photo of JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon with the Bat-Signal.

GAME OF THRONES---co-showrunner DB Weiss commented on a possible prequel series, "You might want to ask George [RR Martin] about that. It's a great world that George created. It's a very rich world. I'm sure there will be other series set in Westeros. But for us, this is it."
Martin commented, "I do have thousands of pages of history of everything that led up to GAME OF THRONES. It's a wealth of material, and I'm still writing more...At the moment, we still have this show to finish and I still have two books to finish, so that's speculation."

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6---Tom Cruise signed for the sixth movie in the franchise.

SUPERHEROES---Eddie Murphy commented on possibly appearing in a superhero movie,
“I’m kind of long in the tooth to fly in in a cape now, so I’d have to be like the voice of reason or somebody. “Don’t do that, super-fellow! Or we need such-and-such.” I would do a superhero movie if it was funny and we were making fun of superhero movies and I figured out how to do something funny. But even I don’t buy me flying in with a cape on and you know, f*cking everybody up, having lasers shoot out.”

FARGO---Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 CLOVERFIELD LANE) will co-star with Ewan McGregor in Season 3. Winstead will play Nikki Swango, a recent parolee who loves playing competitive bridge.

HOMELAND---executive producer Alex Gansa said Season 8 will probably be the last season.

ROADIES---Showtime cancelled the series.

THE LITTLE MERMAID---Chloe Moretz left the movie because, “I pulled the plug on all my movies because I want to reassess who I am and find myself within my roles again. I’m realizing that I can slow down.”

A $260 million movie is just obscene to me.

Hopefully they use some of that money to build some actual dinosaur puppets this time.

For once, we agree. big grin Just ridiculous. Strip down the story to something mean and lean, and you can still make it for under $100 million. Hell, you can probably do 60-70. Just don't make a huge spectacle. Just something exciting.

It's corporate money. It doesn't count. It's not even real.

It's a Jurassic Park movie.

Retarded. I hope the Chinese hate it.

JURASSIC WORLD was a massive disappointment to me (I'm madly in love with the first three), and according to quotes by Trevorrow, who will be producing the sequel, the franchise is now moving in the exact opposite direction of what I had wanted, i.e. more money, "bigger" and more mayhem.

I was hoping that it would instead move in a more "intimate" direction, let's say just ONE man or woman trapped on an island with dinosaurs or something, a purified survival tale. THAT I would have loved to see, and it would presumably be considerably cheaper. Plus it would play more to Bayona's strengths as a director. But alas.

I thought JURASSIC WORLD was just about okay, but then I tried to watch it again a few months later, about 20 minutes in I gave up. That super annoying just plain nasty kid, & all the adults might just have worn labels - The hero - the nasty guy - stroppy, but comes good in the end - woman working too hard, but will learn true values, & fall in love with hero. Stupid was turned up to 11 when they thought the super dino had escaped the pen, as the dino had a tracking device, they only had to phone control to find out where he was, no, lets go in there. I'm sure you can write these dino flics without being too stupid or clichéd or the characters so stereotyped, but why bother when this old crap brings in the money.

Don't you know? Almost doubling a films' budget will make it better! Yes! 'cause we know $150 million gets us a mediocre retread, so $260 million should get us up to acceptable!

Funny, I actually do not recall us disagreeing, I guess that is a good thing.

My main issue isn't really with the film itself. It works reasonably well as a popcorn genre film of 2015 (although it has some warts too). My main issue is that it completely betrays what the first three movies were about. I can't forgive it for that, and from what I've been reading about the sequel, that will take it even further into the 'territory of betrayal'.

She's no Marta Kristen.

the new Lost in space book says that Marta spent the first 4 years of her life in an orphanage. I give her a lot of credit.
