After years of Horner collecting I almost have all of his albums, 12 to go!

Excellent.

I must have a large percentage of his scores, but don't think I've ever compared what I have to what there is.

A quick look shows I have 91 Horner scores. I think the only big score I'm missing is Apollo 13 which I hope Intrada can rectify one day.

As I said I probably should look at soundtrackcollector and see what I'm missing.

I don't think I'm doing too bad with James Newton Howard or Jerry Goldsmith either, or (ducks for cover here) Hans Zimmer.

Good luck, henry.

A few years ago, I completed my collections of Williams, Elfman and Goldenthal. Here's a thread I did on the Goldenthal when that happened:

It's a very satisfying feeling, although it's an ongoing quest since new things come out all the time, so you have to keep up. Not to mention all the unreleased material that linger in limbo or obscurity forever.

As for James Horner, I have about 40 albums -- and plenty more on my wish list. I could picture myself becoming a Horner completist down the road.

Way to go, Henry!

And yes, a list of what 12 you still need would be interesting....

As a fellow Horner-completist, kudos to you Henry! I also would like to see what you're missing.

As for Goldental, I'm still missing Drugstore Cowboy. Damn.

What caught my eye was the subject title which I mis-read as "I'm Almost Three".

I was a bit excited to read what henry might have to say about such a milestone.

I have 64 Horners. So 91 is quite impressive!

Cool, Henry! (Wish I could help you out, but it sounds like you already have everything I have by Horner.) I'm sure you can complete the collection if you just devote a little more time, some patience and what I'm sure is your usual persistence. And of course, having some money helps too. smile Good luck!

As for me, I have just a few more John Williams score CDs to acquire for my own collection to be where I'd like it to be. But I'll get there!

More power to you, but I have never been a completist for any artist. I don't really understand the motivation. I would rather have great albums from my B-list artists than mediocre albums from my A-list artists.

Henry, my man!
I have a copy of 'Unlawful Entry' that is yours for the taking!
I don't know if this had an expansion, but the one I have has 8 tracks, and is from Intrada.
I think you have my email address - drop a note. (Also, let me know here that you sent an email, so I can let you know if I don't receive it.)

:-)

Wasn't this available on CD from overseas?

I often wonder about this myself. Is there any real need to be a "completist" of any film music composer, other than just for the sake of it? I find if you have a decent selection of one's work then it is generally a fair representation. For example I have about 40 of Williams' scores and some compilations, by no means complete but I think it's a good selection and representation of his oeuvre.

Although in saying all that, between LPs and CDs I pretty much have everything available by John Barry. I didn't set out initially to get all of his stuff, it just happened that way.

Most of it was easy to acquire and probably didn't set you back much.

There are a few artists I like who showed up so frequently in the dollar bins that I became a near-completist by default (Herb Alpert, George Shearing Quintet, etc.)
