Very happy for LLL, of course... but could somebody please explain to me why a CD like this is selling more units than some of their other recent releases?!

* I'm asking this without any sarcasm at all, I just don't get it...

Because this is a title with tremendous crossover appeal. Ferris Bueller was one of the most popular films of the 80s and has never had a soundtrack album. This kind of release is attractive to a much larger audience than just us film score nerds.

Its a cult teen classic, worldwide, that every one likes still to this day, It's not one of my best comedy's, but its watchable again. I haven't bought it yet.

HMMM & maybe most of you lot shouldn't pay for your cd's so quickly then if this is the outcome....

In the case of "Ferris Bueller", you might be right, but sometimes that's not an option. These are often very limited pressings that have been known to sell out within a day to a week if we don't act quickly and order when they are still available to us. Believe me, I wish that wasn't the case; I wish "Towering Inferno" (FSM) was still available to those who want to hear it. But, such is life sometimes.... frown

I look at it as LLL rewarding us from ordering directly from them. You order it directly from the company, you get it first.

Many companies do this.

I can't believe this thread turned into some sort of controversy.

Oh wait, of course I can. Lighten up, just wait a few days!

You know, I'm a big fan of your label, but if you're going to fill all of your direct orders first, what's the point of even having retail partners? Why not just make your product exclusive to your site?

It gives titles greater visibility if units are distributed through partners like SAE and Intrada.

Indeed. It helps if your partners actually have stock, though.

Oh Christ. You have to wait a couple extra days?
Poor baby.

I don't call two weeks since the day of order an extra couple of days. Especially when at least 1600 people got their cds within the first week directly from La La Land. But we can all rest easy now: Screen Archives just emailed me that my order has finally shipped. But it sure would be nice going forward if everyone had stock when the street date hits.

Well, I've been waiting for a soundtrack and the score since I first saw the film ... on VHS shortly after it left theaters. So, I got ya beat. I'm very patient.

Boy is he gonna be in a shock when he orders from Kritzerland... ;-)

But, we're getting pretty close here for the need to start speaking French, as Ferris said in the film.

I waited for "CLUE" for two decades or more! But it was worth the wait.

Onenightonly70: I'm glad you got your shipping notice. I got mine today, too. See? A little patience does pay off!! (They probably just didn't expect order volumes to be as high as they initially were.)

I'm glad you got your shipping notice.

One thing of note:

SAE tends to order 2 to 3 days after we release a soundtrack to get a feel as to how many units they need to order. So, for example, they will place an order for Less Than Zero (IT ARRIVED THIS MORNING) most likely Thursday morning, 48 hours after the item went on sale. In the meantime, folks who ordered directly from our website will most likely have that cd in their hands by Thursday if they live in the states.

If you want to support releases like this it's always best to (and fastest) to buy directly from the label releasing it. They make more money off the sale and you, the customer, receive the product faster.

Chicka Chickaaaaa...
