Indeed!!! only 5 tracks from those scores released so far, so it will be a large expansion.

I already have both Lai scores, so it has to be seen how much it is expanded. Nice one for those who don't have them though.

Also which Misunderstood is that? 1984, 2014? Not easy to find out since the score is credited to someone else I presume.

I am going to guess it is the 1984 film which had a score by Michael Hoppe.

That film was actually shot in 1982 and didn't get released for 2 years.

On the contrary, it's very easy to find out as both REUNION (L'AMI RETROUVÉ) and the 1984 MISUNDERSTOOD film were directed by Jerry Schatzberg. Both scores on this CD are coupled because both films were directed by Schatzberg.
REUNION had not much score when I saw the film in1990. I would say that there are not more than 10-15 minutes of music in it.

It is. It also makes sense since Reunion and Misunderstood were both directed by Jerry Schatzberg and both originally had a Philippe Sarde score. So, the 1982 cut had a score by Philippe Sarde and a very sad ending (like the original Italian film) in which the Henry Thomas character died. The producer Tarak Ben Amar didn't like it, demanded a new ending (Henry lives!) and changed the score. There was a huge feud which was made public between Jerry Schatzberg and Ben Amar at the time of the release of the film. Schatzberg kind of disavowed it.

Nonetheless Ben Amar reworked with Sarde on Polanki's Pirates.

Why would it? Nowhere on the CD does it mention Maurice Gibb.

Why woudln't it? Just because it's not mentionedo n the front, doesn't mean it's not there. Plus, it's two tracks, so it would be nice to get that done.

Looks like it'll be a great batch, especially where French film music is concerned. The De Roubaix score for LE SAUT DE L'ANGE is superb, using among other instruments the Indian sitar. It deserves to be released as well as LES ANGES, a completely different score, maybe a bit more free-jazz oriented. Let's hope further De Roubaix albums will folliow on this label or on Music Box Records. By the way, LES LEVRES ROUGES was supposed to be released soon but the CD has not been announced yet.
I'll take the Francis Lai album and perhaps the Sarde one, depending on the style of these two scores.
The Iglesias compilation might also be appealing.

The Sarde music for REUNION is very satirical and quirky. For the most part he is deconstructing a German march by using a strange brass band ensemble and Lester Bowie on the trumpet. More or less an acquired taste. At least for me. Would compare it a bit with Morricone's TRIO INFERNAL. It is not lyrical or romantic Sarde stuff at all.
However, I am anxious to know what Sarde had originally composed for Schatzberg's MISTRUSTED. This could also be the much longer score on the CD.

I just had a look at his filmo / discography on SoundtrackCollector but am familiar with none of the movies / scores to his credit since 2002. Which titles would you recommend, possibly written in a European idiom? I'm indeed not at all interested in European composers aping the sound of Hollywood. To give you an example, a Spanish composer I do enjoy is Bernardo Bonezzi. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Thanks also to Stefan for describing Sarde's approach on the related upcoming CD.

The Orphanage and The Impossible are two quite lovely works by Velazquez...certainly the main themes at least.

Sound clips are up and MISUNDERSTOOD was reused later in his 1985 score for HORS LA-LOI.
