WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12

THE WALKING DEAD---Jeffrey Dean Morgan commented on who Negan will kill in the premiere of Season 7, "Negan's not just going to kill one person...He's not afraid of bashing in skulls."
A trailer for Season 7 was also released.
AMC will launch a marathon with all 83 episodes beginning on October 16.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJS0pJJ1-2s

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII---a source said EPISODE VIII contains a scene which takes place after the duel between Finn and Kylo Ren in THE FORCE AWAKENS. The wounded Finn is placed in a "bacta suit" and emerges "in better condition than ever before". He then embarks on a journey which will make him "a big deal" in the Resistance.

PREDATOR---Boyd Holbrook (NARCOS) is in negotiations to replace Benecio Del Toro for the lead role in the Shane Black sequel. Del Toro left due to schedule problems.

TRASHY MOVIES---a study by Keyvan Sarkhosh, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, found that smart people like trashy movies. The study consisted of 372 people who were trashy movie fans.
148 (43.3%) had a university degree. 110 (32.2%) had a higher education entrance qualification, 61 (17.8%) had a general certificate of secondary education, 15 (4.4%) had basic secondary schooling, 4 (1.2%) had no education diploma.
Sarkhosh said SHARKNADO is a “perfect example” of a trashy movie, "Apart from flying sharks, blood and guts are the main ingredients of this surprise trash hit.”

JURASSIC WORLD 2---co-writer Colin Trevorrow commented on the sequel's plot, “The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons."

SEVENEVES---movie underway based on the sci fi novel with a script by William Broyles Jr. (APOLLO 13). Ron Howard is in talks to direct, and he is also in talks to direct a movie based on the novel THE GRAVEYARD BOOK.

BRIGHT---the Netflix fantasy movie added Lucy Fry to the cast. Fry will play Tikka, an elf who has a magical and illegal wand that evil forces want. She is protected by an Orc cop (Joel Edgerton) and a human cop (Will Smith). Noomi Rapace also stars.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES---director Matt Reeves said there will be another movie after the upcoming WAR, “We absolutely have ideas about where it goes… Because we know that that’s the ending, that it becomes PLANET OF THE APES, the cool thing about what was started in Rise is, that it’s no longer about what happens. It’s about how it happens."

WONDER WOMAN---Lynda Carter said she won't have a cameo in the Gal Gadot movie, but is open to a possible sequel.

INCOGNITO---movie underway based on the comic book with a script by Daniel Casey (10 CLOVERFIELD LANE). Fede Alvarez (EVIL DEAD) is the director.

FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH---Bruce Campbell explained why the rumored movie about Freddy Kreuger (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) vs. Jason Vorhees (FRIDAY THE 13TH) vs. Ash Williams (EVIL DEAD) never was developed, "I’m not real interested in crossovers. One of the main reasons why ‘Ash vs. Jason vs. Freddy’ did not come to pass is because we couldn’t control any other character other than Ash. That felt like a creatively bankrupt way to go. Not to mention, you’re splitting the proceeds three ways with partners you might not want.”

ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL---Lana Condor (X-MEN: APOCALYPSE) has joined the cast.

MURDER IN THE FIRST---TNT cancelled the series.

Thank God I like a great deal of trashy movies! smile

F"#¤k you, Colin Trevorrow, for singlehandedly ruining one of my alltime favourite movie series with silly nonsense like this and what you did in JURASSIC WORLD. You couldn't POSSIBLY have chosen a more wrong direction for the franchise.

Thor we've never been in more agreement. When their reaching "Sharknado" territory of ridiculousness it's time to hang it up.

The stars have aligned, cats and dogs are living together, Obama has resigned -- I'm actually agreeing with Thor. On this. With an addendum.

No more of this. It makes JP3 not look like a steaming turd that was rightfully reemed in one of the Nostalgia Critic's funniest reviews. No, no, no, Thor -- don't mess up this moment by saying you like JP3 -- let it go. ;-)

The addendum, however, is that we only agree on where it is. I'm sure, hell I'm fucking positive that if Thor described what he would want from movies, we'd be in complete disagreement.

Hang it up or SEND it up. I'm reminded that Zanuck and Brown were considering making "Jaws 3" as an "Airplane"-style parody of shark thrillers. Is it time for a dino-spoof, or does Trevorrow lack the requisite sense of humor?

JP3 is wonderful, although not on the level as 2 and certainly not on the level of 1. But it's MILES ahead of WORLD.

I would actually have loved to see the fourth film go SMALLER, not bigger, i.e. a single person trying to survive in the dino-infected jungle. Much like the kid we meet in JP3. Or Newt from ALIENS. Or an adult person. Just an all-out survival tale, bare bones and basic!

Going bigger and more militaristic was the worst possible choice for the JP franchise, and now it seems like they're even taking it further in the next movie. If that's the case, it basically cancels out any enthusiasm I might have felt when Bayona was brought onboard.

JP3 is wonderful

It's a guilty pleasure of mine. It's not a good film. I think a lot of the acting is atrocious. But it's a good "B" movie. Just dumb fun.

I think it's more than just 'dumb fun'. It manages to balance the 'awe' and the 'action' just as Spielberg's movies, with some great setpieces and sense of wonder throughout. I don't understand what people have against it. What's the problem, exactly? My only issue is that it's a bit on the short side.

I enjoyed JP3 WAY more than JP: The Lost World.

Well it did'nt have much of a plot or character development. I think the three supporting adult actors were terrible. The Uncle(?), Mother and Father. Swallowing a cell phone, the entire US armed forces coming to the rescue at the end. But the physical and animated effects were top notch, and the action was fun. The film benefited from it's short run time.

Agreed. TLW is tied with Minority Report as Spielberg's worst.

This, and it's painfully anticlimactic.

Thanks for the comments. As expected, I don't share your evaluations at all. I thought all the adult actors were fine (not only Neill). I think they managed to make as much character development as they could within this particular type of film. All had a "Hollywood arc". It's not Bergman we're talking about here. The Macy and Leoni character overcome their initial naïvité. Neill pours from his experience, but realizes that it only takes you so far ("life finds a way"), the Billy character quickly pays for his 'hamartia' (stealing the egg), the kid displays proper ingenuity.

I also thought the cell phone thing was a neat idea, a "Hitchcockian" tool that allows you to play with things you don't see. Very creepy the first time I saw it.

The narrative is tight and focussed, although -- as I said -- I wish more time was spent on the 'awe' and build-up element, as well as the finale. The film had at least a good 20 more minutes in it.

It's not on the level as the first film, obviously, and not on the same level as the extremely underrated LOST WORLD, but it's very much in the same mold of the first two films, with proper respect and further exploration. I dig it! (and I will defend both that and LOST WORLD to the day I die; the first doesn't really need my defense, and the fourth doesn't deserve it).

Don't mind LeHah. He has no idea what he's talking about. MINORITY REPORT is a fantastic film through and through.

I literately couldn't stomach Minority Report. How many bodily fluids did Spielberg shove in our faces? Disgusting.

Bodily fluids? You mean the 'eye' thing? That's about the only one I can think of that is 'visceral'. The rest is a marvelous display of gorgeous chilly photography and tight narrative. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a masterpiece, but it's one of my favourite movies of the 2000s. At least in the top 20.

I remember three or four instances that were gratuitous and gross. One where a cop got punched in the gut and vomited. Another where a scientist (?) sneezes and a long string of snot comes running out of his nose. There were other instances like that.
