Bill Frisell is a leading jazz and eclectic guitarist who has an extraordinarily diverse catalogue.
I missed one of his most recent albums - When You Wish Upon a Star. Very wide range of unusual covers, from a lovely vocal of You Only Live Twice to a jazz combo take on Psycho. Well worth a listen for those who enjoy venturing somewhat far afield from the usual film score covers.
But I think this first track is worthwhile for anyone who loves Elmer Bernstein, and especially To Kill a Mockingbird.
Oh man, those were both a blast. Thanks for sharing them. I especially enjoy the Mockingbird cover, but then, I love that them SO much that you could do a all-flatulence cover of the theme and I'd still be moved to tears by it.
Anyone who's Amazon Prime can stream for free, which I did last night. A strange album, which I enjoyed, but really let's not call this jazz because it has nothing to do with jazz at all. I may purchase it - the Once Upon a Time in the West tracks are fun.
