Pure Korngold. As there is a lot of sung music without disturbing dialogue, at least all this material could be taken directly from the film. But probably no label will do it because the film is much too obscure and so we will never get the score on an official CD. I also have no hopes for any re-recording of that score because it will be much too expensive and too risky for any CD label. Some music from GIVE US THIS NIGHT is on the Citadel Records CD titled "Golden Age Songs and Instrumentals" There are for song numbers. Major chunks of the score, as heare in the film, are missing. But again, there are other major chunks that are clearly Bondage music, that are nowhere to be found in the film. Too bad most of Between Two Worlds no longer exists. But of course these can't be compared with the original versions which were composed for large orchestra and in parts also chorus besides the vocal parts for Jan Kiepura and Gladys Swarthout. So the Tony Thomas LP/CD has only simple re-arranged piano versions of four songs from the film. There is much more impressive music in the film itself. For instance, compare the piano and voice arrangement on the Tony Thomas LP (and later the Citadel CD) of "Sweet Melody of Night" to this 78 commercially released in 1936, with Jan Kiepura and full orchestra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqWp4wyd8VA Wow, Jan Kiepura was a force to be reckoned with. I am surprised is so overlooked today in the history of great tenors. Not only is he technically gifted, but he brings such HEART to his performances. I have often thought of him as the Polish Mario Lanza (although, chronologically, I guess Lanza should be called the Italian Jan Kiepura), in that they were both able to break beyond the strict classical opera audiences and touch the hearts of other listeners who might never had paid attention to opera otherwise.
