I know John and the TFC team disappeared long ago from this blog and probably he will not read this post but…
I’d like to express my personal immense gratitude to him, William Stromberg and Anna Bonn for the treasures of classic film music they produced for BMG, Marco Polo/Naxos and Tribute Film Classics, giving us endless pleasure with their score reconstructions of Steiner, Korngold, Herrmann, Waxman, Tiomkin, Sainton, Salter, Skinner, Arnold, Deutsch, Young, Newman and many more...
His 70th birthday is an appropriate and sincere tribute to this great champion of film music reconstruction.
I have all of their cds and, along with the Tadlow recordings, they are the most often played and enjoyed.

Happy birthday John Morgan!

Sincerely

Riccardo, from Italy

Why did they leave this site? I wish they were still doing re-recordings. Very much wish they'd done A&C MEET FRANKENSTEIN.

Sadly, their last recordings were Max Steiner's ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN and Herrmann's BATTLE OF NERETVA in 2011-2012.

I recently listened intensively to the monumental CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE, and was amazed for the immense work of restoration and the thrilling conducting of Bill Stromberg!

I guess they are retired now?

Their CDs no longer made enough to finance their rerecordings.

Happy birthday! You seemed to have gone over the hill a few more times than me. Congrats we're still hanging around. big grin

I much regret the absence of Morgan, Stromberg and Tribute. But I'm glad to hear that Mr. Morgan is still with us and soon to celebrate a milestone. Happy Birthday, John Morgan!

Big fan of the non-mickey mousey portions of Morgan's Herrmannesque AFTERMATH. Been meaning to check out more stuff by him, though I am certainly familiar with his excellent restoration work with Stromberg. Happy 70th, I hear it's the new 50 these days!

Happy birthday indeed! I wish you guys at TFC could find a way to make your great recordings profitable again, but I suppose not enough people support these classic restorations. Reduced liner notes/booklet, don't license official photos/poster art, different orchestra/recording venue? I don't know, I'm not in the business, and I'm sure you guys have thought of everything that could make this series work again, but I sure would've liked to have seen A and C meet Frankenstein, All That Money Can buy, etc, etc.
