MONDAY, OCTOBER 17

GAME OF THRONES---spoiler alert (see below).

JURASSIC WORLD 2---director JA Bayona commented on the sequel, “It will be darker and scarier than the previous film. Obviously when you have Chris Pratt, it will also be very funny. But it will be darker. It is a second step in a trilogy, and the second step is always dark as in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK or THE WRATH OF KHAN which are the examples you always get.”
He added, “The film takes the story where it has never been before. To me, it surprised me. We are going to places where the saga has never been before, and at the same time we are paying tribute to the franchise. We will take it a step further. There are things that will happen that people are not expecting and they really are shocking.”

THE WALKING DEAD---AMC released a photo showing a head on a pike with the caption, "You've been warned". Fan speculation is the photo hints Season 7 will introduce The Whisperers who put the heads of survivors on pikes to warn other survivors to stay away. Other speculation is that the photo is of pike-mounted heads at The Sanctuary which is the home of The Saviors.
Also, AMC renewed the series for Season 8 and announced that Episode 2 of Season 7 is titled "The Well" and released a synopsis of the episode:

“For a number of familiar faces, a new, well-established community seems too good to be true.”

LOGAN---director James Mangold released a photo of Stephen Merchant as Caliban from the Wolverine sequel.

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA---John Carpenter commented on if Dwayne Johnson had followed up on his earlier comments that he wanted Carpenter involved in the remake of the 1986 cult classic movie, "No. No one’s talked to me about it. Haven’t heard a thing!...isn’t it great?"

STRANGER THINGS---two of the four new major characters were announced. Max (Sadie Sink) is a suspicious tomboy. Billy (Dacre Montgomery) is Max's older step-brother who has a violent streak.

STAKELAND 2---Syfy synopsis released for the sequel to the 2010 vampire movie which premiers on October 18:

"After a personal tragedy, Martin ventures into the American badlands in search of legendary vampire hunter Mister, hoping to reteam with him against a rapidly escalating threat posed by highly evolved vampires and their frightening allies."

THOR: RAGNAROK---director Taika Waititi commented on the sequel, “I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films. I honestly know NOTHING outside of what I’m doing. I’m trying to ignore the rest of the universe and just make my own awesome movie.”
He added, “Our film feels like that… and more. I think [THOR: RAGAROK] will be one of the most adventurous and most ‘out there’ of all the Marvel movies. It’s a crazy movie. You can expect a Taika-esque tone."

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---director Gareth Edwards denied rumors that Alistair Petrie will play Agent Kallus in ROGUE ONE and said Petrie will be playing Rebel Alliance General Draven.
Also, fans started an online petition requesting that the STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC video game be developed into a Netflix tv series.

SILENT NIGHT---movie underway set in Berlin during World War II where a serial killer is preying on young women. A Nazi-appointed homicide detective must team up with a Jewish expert on serial killers to stop the murderous rampage.

VAN HELSING---Syfy renewed the series for Season 2.

BOSCH---Amazon renewed the series for Season 4.

WE'RE THE ONLY PLANE IN THE SKY---movie underway based on the magazine article about the evacuation of President George W. Bush from a Florida elementary school after the September 11 terrorist attacks. The movie follows Bush, his staff, Secret Service agents, military personnel and an entourage of journalists aboard Air Force One for eight hours after the evacuation.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---Tom Holland said the sequel is underway with discussions about who the villain will be. He also commented on appearing in an Avengers sequel, “It’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is.”

SHREK 5---Michael McCullers (AUSTIN POWERS) will write the sequel script.

SEX AND THE CITY---Sarah Jessica Parker commented on another movie in the future, "Not on the table, but somebody is holding it fairly nearby."

SILENT NIGHT sounds as if it owes a lot to NIGHT OF THE GENERALS.

Also, teaming up with a "Jewish expert on serial killers?" "During WWII?" That strains credibility. It's highly unlikely that any Nazi would countenance any Jew as having intelligence, let alone be an "expert." Besides, most of the Jews were rounded up. At some point during the war, Goebbels declared Berlin "Judenfrei," a.k.a. "jew free."

So, the plot of this seems to be bordering on science fiction.

I didn't know this was a rule.

I wonder if we'll see a first trailer to WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES during next week's season premiere of "The Walking Dead" on Fox?

By the way, did anyone else see last night's Simpsons and "Planet of the Couches"?

I like Taika Waititi and his previous film/tv work that i've seen and i hope he makes a great Thor film. I haven't seen the first Thor and didn't really like the second that much, though.

Jurassic Park is a saga now? I only liked the first one and rather enjoyed the third, which seemed like it was knocked up quick and cheap. The other two i didn't like very much. They should just do dinosaur films that aren't connected and over separate timelines - i want to see Gwangi and fun ideas like that.

SILENT NIGHT - At least sounds interesting.

The Nazis kept meticulous records of the people they surveilled, used, and killed. I could certainly imagine plucking an individual from a camp. Or perhaps the person is a fighter who has not succumbed to the diabolical machine.

Also, the individual trying to stop the serial killer might not actually be a Nazi. There were a few.

I kind of agree with you, Warlock. I think Silent Night sounds interesting. The detective was a "Nazi-appointed" detective and who may not actually be a Nazi, and may be a Jewish sympathizer. I'm intrigued by this story.

Please, no GWANGWI! smile

As I've said before, I think the ideal JP film would be just one man in a jungle of dinos. Sort of JP, ALIEN-style. That would have been the opposite direction they're now taking; i.e. more down to basics. Alas, it seems like even Bayona is now caught up in Trevorrow's deluded hyperbole. But then again, I guess he's bound by contract and obligation to say those things.
