This is the part where people start naming every Christmas movie they can think of.

What is your FAVORITE Christmas score?

Mine is Die Hard.

As far as evoking a wintry atmosphere goes that speaks to the heart and soul of the season, I'm going to go with the obvious: EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.

I once did a webcast episode on this exact topic:

http://celluloidtunes.no/celluloid-tunes-11-jule-filmmusikk/

It's in Norwegian, though. The playlist for the episode was this:

Home Alone 2: Alone in New York (1992) — «Home Alone»/»Star of Bethlehem» — John Williams
A Christmas Carol (1938) — «Prelude & Threadneedle Street» — Franz Waxman
A Christmas Carol (2009) — «Main Title» — Alan Silvestri
The Snowman (1982) — «Walking in the Air» — Howard Blake
Santa Claus: The Movie (1985) — «Every Christmas Eve – Instrumental» — Henry Mancini
Ben Hur (1959) — «Star of Bethlehem»/»Adoration of the Magicians» — Miklos Rozsa
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989) — «Christmas Vacation» — Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil
Miracle on 34th Street (1994) — «Main Title» — Bruce Broughton
The Lion in Winter (1968) — «The Christmas Wine» — John Barry
Scrooged (1988) — «Suite» — Danny Elfman

On Her Majesty's Secret Service. But Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns are strong contenders.

'Toys'- with the louder tracks edited out.

'Lion In Winter', 'The Last Valley'

There is a two disc set of 'Miracle on 34th St' with the Broughton and Mockridge scores- both delightful in their own ways.

'Doctor Who- A Christmas Carol'

'A Charlie Brown Christmas (remastered)'- While it only has a couple of original pieces, 'Christmastime Is Here' has become a established christmas carol.
The remastered version lets you hear the entire trio- it's almost scary how you can hear the entire trio.

'Edward Scissorhands'
