From Facebook this morning:

It is with deep sadness and much difficulty to inform you that Don Marshall another Star Trek & Land of the Giants member has passed away at Cedars Sinai Hospital on Sunday evening October 30, 2016 at approximately 8 P.M . Don transitioned peacefully, at his bedside were his daughter, son, and twin brother Doug Marshall. A memorial service is to be determined.

Sorry to hear this. Marshall was also in an earlier Roddenberry series, The Lieutenant, which starred Gary Lockwood and Robert Vaughn.

Marshall starred in the controversial episode, "To Set it Right." It was originally unaired due to the racially charged storyline. It co-starred Nichelle Nichols and Dennis Hopper.

In 1972, Don Marshall had a co-starring role in the AIP exploitation film THE THING WITH TWO HEADS. Marshall played "Dr. Fred Williams," a transplant rejection specialist who is hired sight-unseen by "Dr. Maxwell Kirshner" (Ray Milland), and then quickly rejected when the bigoted Kirshner finds out that Williams is African-American. Lee Frost directed the film, which was scored by Robert O. Ragland. None of the score appeared on the "inspired by" album released by Pride/MGM Records.

Marshall co-starred with Phyllis Davis in the 1973 prison picture TERMINAL ISLAND. Marshall played "A. J. Thomas," who was sentenced to the penal colony because he caused the death of a policeman. Writer/director Stephanie Rothman was one of the few female filmmakers who specialized in low-budget drive-in exploitation fare in the '60s and '70s. Although the onscreen credits of the film list Michael Andres as the composer, in a letter to the Motion Picture Academy dated 5 December 1973, producer Charles S. Swartz asked that the credit be revised to read, "Music by Jerry Styner."

I missed this RIP thread. I watched the Land of the Giants pilot last week and I was curious to see what those actors did since then. So I Just discovered he passed away. He didn't do much, but I think he was a charismatic and likeable actor. I see he was in The Galileo Seven episode of Star Trek. He should have been much bigger, IMHO.

I know this may be a tiny thing, but I think I like the context in which the Facebook post used the word "transitioned".
There is something very comforting and poetic about it.

Belated RIP.
