Spoiler free. I just finished watching this series on Netflix and have to say it was the most disappointing of the Marvel/Netflix shows to date. I'm a big comic book fan and enjoyed Daredevil and Jessica Jones, though season 2 of Daredevil (with the exception of the Punisher storyline) was a step down from season 1. Luke Cage is well made and it has a good score, but the pace of the show is slow slow slow. I think it would benefit from some tightening up in the editing room. The acting is mixed, most of the actors are good but Luke Cage who's such a strong presence in the comic books is oddly boring on screen. I actually think he was more interesting in Jessica Jones. I also think the show suffers from some poor writing, the storyline doesn't stay focused enough. The motivation behind the main villain is pretty weak and the inability of said villain to see his plan through just becomes silly. I really wanted to like this show. My wife gave up halfway through but me being the comic nerd I am had to see how it ended. Makes me wonder what'll happen with Iron Fist and the eventual Defenders series.

I like what I have seen so far - halfway through.
The weakest bit is the origin story which sucks.

I watched a little of JESSICA and was not the least bit interested in yet another self-destructive anti-hero.
DAREDEVIL s.1 was good. Season two was awful. Armies of Ninjas, resurrection, Elektra...give me a break!

I thought the same thing about Jessica Jones at first, but staying with it for the whole season completely explained the self-destructive starting point and for me has been the best of these series. Worth watching the whole season to see the usual dystopia transform.

ANother factor in my lack of interest: I know nothing about this character. WHen did MARVEL introduce her?

In the first episode of her series. Or if you mean in comics, it was 2003 I think.

LUKE CAGE is a good deal more character oriented than much of the Marvel universe, but I'm sure the real problem is CAGE is just not going to appeal to the AD/HD types who frequent these climes.

hAVING finished the series these are my observations (minor spoiler alert):

-It was at least 2 epsisodes too many.
-The villain who owned the nightclub and his cousin made for excellent
adversaries
- Cage's 1/2 brother was pretty superflous , not very original and outlived his usefulness. Unfortunately it looks like he may return next season. Same goes for the the Latin gangster(s)
- Most of the police characters were cliches BUT I really love that they confronted the issue of police murdering unarmed black men head on. KUdos to Marvel!!!!

tO SUM UP:
a great lead charcter with strong supporting players. Some strong story elements but several weak sub-plots AND PREACHY tone threaten to bring the show down. Looking forward to s.2 and hoping it does not go the way of DAREDEVIL

PSthank god they killed off the Frank Whaley character . He plays that same unctuous character in everything he does!

I really enjoyed Luke Cage. It had a couple of slower episodes leading up to the final two episodes but overall it moved quickly and kept my interest. Jessica Jones on the other hand I stopped after the first six episodes and felt no interest in returning. My husband barely made it through two episodes. I didn't find much interest in the villain or Jessica or any of the characters really. Luke only interested me once I got into Luke Cage.

I loved both JESSICA JONES and LUKE CAGE....

Could they have both been tightened up a bit, Yeah.

But overall I had a blast and can't wait for IRON FIST and after that THE DEFENDERS...

If it wasn't your cup, that's cool.

both shows worked for me.

I've enjoyed all three series so far, so am looking forward to both Iron Fist and Defenders.

As for the origin episode, I loved it. We actually get a quick glimpse of the yellow top, blue leggings and even that tiara!
